Case display cabinets in NextGen suck

The retail merchandising team is d-mb. The next generation case wall cabinets are a multi-million dollar mistake! Every store for the next 10 years will have impossible to organize random cases floating in those monstrosity cabinets. Once again Verizon reinvents and ruins the easy task of displaying what you have for sale. We have 5-6 of the same cases on display for phones that the rep or customer cant tell apart. The cases don't say what they fit and they are on random shelves. Displaying a sign that says Samsung, Motorola or Apple just doesn't narrow it down since each has 5 or more models. Plus we have the same cases on display and customers miss out on 50% of what we have because they dont see it. Selling a case is a labor intensive task and slows down every sale! This needs a revamp. This display has zero self service appeal. Stocking is impossible. Label the damn cases so customers can tell them apart. It's the equivalent of not putting size tag in clothing. Guess we add it to the list of making something that should be easy become verizon dysfunctional.

Who cares about name brand? My cheap knock offs work fine. They protect my phone. They last longer than the phone.

Not to mentioned I can get it delivered overnight.

Who cares where it's made? Verizon is an international company, not one that claims to be american.

name brands Bro Like Otter box, mophie, zag, Lifeproof.,incipio, gear 4, speck etc etc bundled with other accessories, you get 40% thus an otter box defender would be $35.99 , google it and you’ll see how competitive Vzw is bro. Unfortunately, i don’t agree with any thing Vzw, does not do retail right in any way

I don't understand the sheer incompetence or agree with anything vzw does regarding their retail stores. However, the stores do carry "name brand" accessories, so if you compare name brand item to exact name brand item vzw is a better deal, I didn't believe it till I researched it. So a statement of 40% off is still 100% cheaper on Amazon, next you'll be telling us Amazon doesn't make a profit on accessories. The knock offs are the ones you're referring too, which are yes less expensive. This is such a minor issue because the stores are run it seems with no planning or merchandise sense by people that never had experience in retail

Why would anyone go to a store when you can do everything online? I want a phone case I don't go to the store. I go on Amazon and get it for 11 bucks instead of leaving my house.

The problem here overall isn't that we have display cases for phone cases, its that we still have stores.

This company is such a failure that when friends or family ask me about switching to vz i tell them not to waste their money because i never seen worse back end systems from a company. My buddy works at att and tells me all the time that they never have issues with their systems. I send them to att t see him. Vz doesnt pay me enough to give af

A newly hired HQ marketing employee came by our store to check them out. They were puzzled by my response of why all the different accessories we offer aren’t displayed, but instead in the drawers or back room. I just told them, this is what the Plano says. He looked with a confused look and I told him most of the items will never see the light of day and just be sent back. I showed him those sunglasses with speakers that have just sat and have never been displayed. The look on his face was priceless.

40% off on something that is 100% more expensive than Amazon. And I only have to buy 4 other worthless, overpriced accessories I don't need to get that price. What a deal! How many people have VZ stores swindled? Must be in the millions.

In our store the merchandising plan coveted the sign saying get 3 accessories 30%off,4 accessories get 35% off,or get 5 accessories get 40% off. This sign helped us sell more bundles just by customers inquiring on the deal. I come too the conclusion a long time ago that operations and merchandising have never worked in retail before and have no idea how they operate day to day.

I've met the people at HQ responsible for these decisions. Even for Verizon, it's shocking that these people are employed.

Let's put some random items on sale for 3 days. This way you can change the call out card twice that week. Do you think customers are running into the store to get a $10 off on some random item? Stop wasting our time chasing your price changes!! By the time anyone realizes it's on sale the deal is probably over and the call out card is wrong. Merch team if you have nothing to do then host a bluejeans call like the rest of the company does when they have nothing to do. Or do like the SMB managers do and hide at home so that you aren't creating more work for others.

Clearly they didn't learn their lessons from the Smart Store boondoggle. As a former area merchandising manager I remember asking my VP what the large accessory walls were for. His response was to impress the customer and they knew 90% of the stuff on the walls wasn't going to sell. It was just for looks. True story.

Something else funny, next gen store some have pick up lockers. Customer can come in and pick up their phone/devices and you would never even know they were there. Fine right? Well typical Verizon they add that device/transaction into your bucket to go against your KPIs and metrics including but not limited to ARD.

I mean they're only worth 5% in a bucket and they can get cheaper on amazon so why do we stress out about accessories so much

You are so right. It's almost like they designed it that way so you don't sell accessories.
