WRONG. TMOB has recently completed the upgrade of major metro areas backhaul to 10 GB per site. They are now in the process of making deals in suburban and rural areas for upgraded backhaul.
Build a model like TMO.... They don't have backhaul and they are kicking everyone's bu-t....
Fiber is nothing more than a commodity. The real question is, why would they not sell it off, need to retire debt now. T could likely get 50B for their fiber division, which would help reduce the 150B pink elephant in the living room.
Why do so many believe AT&T will sell their fiber unit /division? This makes no sense to me. Fiber is the backbone of the company , including wireless.
*Bookmark the state unemployment office on your personal device - that way, if you need to apply, the info is there for you. Apply for unemployment asap. Don't wait. It takes weeks for processing.
*Get any personal info off your work device - keep work stuff on there only
*If you don't WFH, start taking personal stuff home that you don't need from day-to-day. Think family photos, decor, and such. You can do this slowly if you're worried about people noticing. Imagine a scenario when they walk you to your desk with a box and escort you out with security. You don't want to have to carry more than you need to.
*Email yourself to your personal device copies of your paystubs if you don't already have recent copies
*Get started on your resume, if you haven't already
Taking the steps above will help you if you get laid off
Based on the amount of people leaving the business, I think AT&T is hitting their numbers by attrition. Now that all might change when AT&T sells/reorganizes/restructures AT&T Fiber. Just mobility appears to be the strategy, say hello again Cingular.
2022 is a repeat of 2021.
You already know they're coming. That's the only notice you really need. You're never going to get a heads-up that your number is next, and on which date. If you don't know for sure you're not on the list, it might not be a bad time to start working on your own plan, instead of being a part of someone else's.
man I do not miss the att cesspool environment
anybody thinking of working there run run run far away and don't look back you won't regret it.
You can bet Stankey and Santone have a plan, but they are not talking. No one else knows for sure and can only speculate. It makes sense they will implement layoffs in June, end of 2Q, just my opinion. They are busy sharpening their axes no doubt. They have got to make cuts, headcount rationalization is a quick and dirty way to reduce expenses.
