Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Linkedin WTF

What’s up with LinkedIn and Nike employees positing some absolute cringe posts?

I mean, maybe i’m behind with the times, but did being melodramatic on LinkedIn get updated as a requirement I the employee handbook?

“8 years ago I walked on to campus for the first time….

“So I will now write a 50 paragraph post.”

“Each being one to two sentences.”

“All spaced out like this.”

“To say that I got a new job”

“Or”

“How I bravely turned off my email notifications after 5pm”

“Because I matter”.

LinkedIn has a long standing se-ual harassment issue. The “id--t” you’re referring to started a campaign that got them to publicly commit to updating their community guidelines to help address it. It’s such a cowardly move to anonymously bully people who are actually trying to make the world a little better instead of just complaining about it on an anonymous forum.

😳 is that the same id--t who keeps on accusing everyone of hitting on her so she can get some sympathy from other LinkedIn id--ts?

If you even use LinkedIn, or Facebook, or Twitter, or Instagram, etc.…you’re part of the problem to begin with. All of those platforms encourage narcissism, 24/7 “branding”, and a bunch of other societal ills that are inextricably linked to the rise of social media. It’s no wonder that rates of narcissism, su----e, depression, and other forms of mental illness among younger people are at historical levels.

Of course Nike is very actively involved with all of those platforms. Which means Nike is a massive part of the problem.

Short answer: narcissism. Put in your two weeks and shut up about it. Half the company is leaving, no need for the theatrics.

The world these days - especially on the Internet - is too noisy. No one pays attention to anything or anyone for more than 3 seconds. So people tend to be overly-dramatic in an attempt to at least try and catch others’ attention for 5 seconds. That’s why you see such attention who-ing on Linkedin and elsewhere. While many are guilty of it my generation (Millennials) are the absolute worst. We tend to be overly-dramatic in an attempt to break through all the noise. What you saw on LinkedIn is the result.

Glassdoor is probably ramping up a new AI to sniff out fake 5-star reviews pumped out by HR to pad stats...Axon (was Taser) is guilty of this...
