Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

RTO Hit Squad

I work in WIM and my team was ambushed early this week and called out for not having the 3 days in the office. We are currently understaffed so the each of us has been working 10+ hour days. Zero grace because the rules are 3 days in the office and we are not following the rules and this non compliance has been reported to the operating committee.

We are exempt. The reason is there is magic that happens in the office and we need to be present. We have been available 95% while remote and back each other up. We average about 1.5 days in the office and that time is frustrating with constant interruptions by time wasting water cooler chat. Id--ts who don’t want to work.

Meanwhile while the back office is understaffed and overwhelmed. Can’t get wires, ACHs done for our FAs. Our brokerage unit is the only one with these excuses to not deliver. This doesn’t happen with Schwab, FIDO, ML, or Morgan. All because J Hayes fired everyone in VA Ops that knew how to do stuff. Save money to get a bigger bonus.

All a smoke screen.

while exempt employees at wf tend to not have to do time cards doesn't mean plenty of other companies don't require it. if your management is insisting on you coming in 3 days a week then you ensure you aren't working more than 8 hours a day. if the work isn't getting done that's on them and they can hire more people. if they are going to punish you regardless of how much you work then work the minimum.

It's still based on LOB right now. Sounds like you work in WIM Ops. I think they might feel that group probably needs more structure

manager here who has received my team's badging report... agree with prior poster. they are 100% monitoring who comes in - down to the individual person. The language about expectations is getting firmer (e.g. the "adjustment" time is over, the expectation is 3 days a week).

Basically what OP is trying to say is that they are watching who is coming in the office or not. No where did I see any justification about not having to come in.

Exempt means don’t have to punch a time card.

The last 2 paragraphs are clues that this person works on the Investment side, not the bank. The back office sucks and any transaction type is manually done which means they constantly miss deadlines and make excuses. That is poor service to the clients and the Advisors or their assistants are the ones that get yelled at by the clients.

Management knows about this but does nothing. It’s been like this for the past 3 years.

@acf+1gvPyATj exempt or non-exempt status is determined by the job family and related labor law (both federal and state).

You say you are exempt, who determined that and how?

I would not consider that “being ambushed” unless someone in your leadership chain gave you written approval or you had a documented accommodation. If neither of the above, sounds akin to saying “I didn’t finish my training on time because I was too busy doing my job.” Which also never flies. Good luck!
