Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How does the rest of the world feel that only the US are getting a mid year rise

To all of the hard working folks at the BTC, KLTC or all of the Europeans, Canadians and Aussies, how does this feel to you. Sends a clear message that not enough attrition in everywhere in the world apart in the motherland. We re always second class.

When I see the profile of TG I catch a ride. Worth more than 3%.

Would have been nice to get the 3% for sure…. But I’d rather get my Canadian 18 months of maternity leave any day :-)

The highest cost resources get a one off payment. Really? And what value do they generate? Ask any location outside of Houston and you'll get a consistent answer.

Attrition has not hurt us yet and if we were smarter we would use this opportunity to eliminate work and more aggressivley move to others or GBCs.

IOL didn't lose a 401k match right? Yeah okay, we're still in the ho-e. Wish everyone could get it but not like they haven't fu---d over everyone in some fashion.

Nothing new, non-US gets the shaft as usual. I've been applying to Chevron and Shell this weekend.

@2ujy+1guxQwkj Fully agree, but certainly the US is not alone in haemorrhaging people 😁

@1qno+1guxQwkj EM is US headquartered. Higher US base salary should be comparable to similar positions in the same country and industry. Market driven. EM is not unique by any means in that regard. Not to mention, Other countries have government protections regarding vacations, pension and severance that the US does not have. This 3% is not even the bare minimum, but given the fact that we are bleeding people, guess they felt they had to do something.

@1qno+1guxQwkj this is completely true. Unfortunately, the brutal truth is that the American payroll is significantly advantaged versus rest of world in EM. It is home advantage, that's the reality, perhaps it is market forces.

Holidays are in line with the local country employment laws. This is not discretionary.

@1gjg+1guxQwkj Not everyone got the luxury of working from home and nobody got any type of salary treatment during that cycle. You lost and then regained a benefit that doesn’t exist in many other countries. I’m by no means saying it’s greener there, however, your base salary levels are higher for the same CL level compared to other countries, and now you get a 3% bonus whilst everyone else has to be content with the dismal 1.5% (or less) we got at the start of the year. Home advantage is a real thing.

I’ll trade the one-time 3% bonus for the new employee vacation policy in most European countries. In the US, we lost the 7% match for an entire year and the majority did not receive any type of salary treatment that cycle. While you were working from home due to your country’s Covid policy, we were told to return to office. The grass isn’t greener here.

They did it last year in China, they have done it in Prague, Curitiba, Istanbul and other locations in the past. Be happy that the company is finally paying more somewhere. It's not huge but at least the company is taking action.

Not sure about a rise, but I assume OP means raise! Anyway it’s not a raise to the US salary, it’s a one time 3% bonus of ones base pay, yes 3%. As this is a bonus, it’s subject to higher taxes and is non benefit bearing. While no one will turn this down it’s really nothing earth shattering.

If you’re at BTC you’re in high demand. Look for other offers.

Don’t mean to be cold hearted…..

this is exactly what’s wrong with EM. Instead of looking for one another, people only care for themselves… we are ExxonMobil

@szn+1guxQwkj the UK lost benefits, they have never been reinstated and it is confirmed that they will not ever come back.

Europe I'm sure sees this as a kick in the teeth and will drive more attrition before we break for summer.

Well US lost the matching benefit for a year and I’m not aware of any other country that had that happen. So yeah unfortunate it didn’t happen in my country but I also didn’t lose my matching
