Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If we had our 401k match per paycheck

We'd be able to capitalize on this market downturn.

Oh well

Thanks Charlie Chuckluls!!!!

It would be best to dollar cost average into the market month by month. Even quarter-by-quarter like it was before was ok.

But this "keep their money and give it to them at the end of the year" is a slap in the face. Sadly, it's what people have come to expect from the WF leadership.

Expect better.

When pension was terminated and 401k introduced in early 80s.

How many years ago? And at WF or Wachovia? I've been around for a while, with WF, and it was always quarterly until the recent change to annually.

Why do people always talk around here when they know they are wrong!

Also, if you have more invested in Q1, don't you get dividends for the other quarters that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise?

Believe it or not it’s advantageous to front load investments earlier in the year to take advantage of compounding interest. If wells matched on each contribution, you couldn’t do this as you’d lose the match when you hit the limit. Over many years thus adds up in your favor.

Yes, it was per pay check before quarterly.

It was only quarterly before. It was never every paycheck.

@yiz+1gstmvWU Could do that, but wouldn't be using pre-tax dollars.

Try allocating some of your bi-weekly contribution to a non-stock account so you have those funds available to re-balance at times like these?

@pkx+1gstmvWU Thanks for making my point. Without our match, we're not buying at the high or low. Thanks now chase the ball for me again.

And inversely, when the market was high you'd be buying in weekly when the market is at ATH.

This isn't the thing to be upset about. If you can time the market, go play stocks and quit.
