There are a handful of years with the company between the outing and incoming. Most wouldn't notice a change, but in names only. I'm all for promoting from within, too bad the candidate profiles read like broken record.

Please don't disturb c-suite, they are busy re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!

Same ole, same ole! More musical chairs in C-suite. They just love that game. Recycling of the same losers, over and over.

Headline should be more along the lines as “stankey officially names his new “yes man.”

It would be news only if we were actually getting leaders. This company has high salaried place holders, but no leadership. The only thing upper management does is ra-e and pillage the company until they can strap on their golden parachute.

More of the same to preserve the Status quo!

What a stupid headline. There's no "leadership change" here. OK so they throw a few useless execs overboard and rearrange the remaining losers, but it's still the same people in charge (including the guy at the top who was a key driver of some of the worst American business decisions of the past 25 years or so). They'll follow this with layoff, which will give their financials a temporary boost, and they'll spin that as the product of their management genius to justify another round of obscene raises for themselves, Haven't see that before, have we? Even if T didn't have an id--t and his fellow travelers in charge, this company isn't going anywhere. T doesn't invent anything, It buys equipment from companies that do invent things and uses it to provide services in markets that don't really have much of competition. There's nothing here to drive real innovation. As a result, what innovation there is is directed at the production of bu-----t for public and internal company consumption. Like these "leadership changes." Pointless bu-----t spun as management innovations in the making.

Same execs, same buzzwords, same pay, and no new ideas or new growth.

It's still called rearranging the deck chairs, even if you throw a few overboard.

John still putting the team together. And some attrition of career people.

Dallas-based AT&T, after stepping away from WarnerMedia, is getting a new COO.
Jeff McElfresh – who has been CEO of AT&T Communications – has been appointed to the position and will continue to report to CEO John Stankey, according to a note by Stankey sent internally on Friday.

Earlier this month, Discovery Inc. and AT&T (NYSE: T) announced the deal closed to combine the WarnerMedia business with Discovery. That followed a deal to separate from DirecTV last year as the company focuses more on connectivity.
AT&T Communications includes mobility operations.
“The world is changing in our favor, and we must make the most of this moment,” Stankey said in the note to employees. “Investment in what we do best is critical, but we also must make sure we are set up to move at pace with change. To do this, we are making adjustments to our management team. These changes are designed to remove barriers to our business, enhance our creative capability, and focus on fewer but better products for today’s market.”
Other changes include Jeremy Legg, CTO at Communications, taking the role at AT&T, and Kellyn Kenny, chief marketing and growth officer at Communications, getting the overall post at the company. Thaddeus Arroyo, previously CEO of AT&T’s Consumer business, becomes chief strategy and development officer.
Earlier, a spokesperson said it was announced that Anne Chow, CEO of AT&T Business, would be retiring along with Steve McGaw, SVP, corporate strategy and development at AT&T, and Scott Mair, president of engineering and operations at the company, all at different times later this year.
McElfresh took over the position of CEO of AT&T Communications in October of 2019 when Stankey was elevated to the role of COO under then CEO Randall Stephenson.
McElfresh has more than two decades of experience with AT&T in various strategic, operational and technology leadership roles.
