Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Grim Reaper stole your benefits!

In an effort to float their books, Oracle is even more desperate than usual. Layoffs are not the only means they are using to sink this company further into the 3rd world order.

As of May 18, 2022, Oracle has capped your annual allotted sick time to 72 hours, after which you must either burn vacations days, or take unpaid time off, or apply for short term disability if you can qualify.

However, the pain doesn't stop there. Short term disability has also been trimmed severely. Previously STD provided up to 12 weeks at full pay, now it is reduced to 8 weeks @ full + 4 weeks at 60%.

No wonder the default is Oracle's managed. I used to be in state and got swayed to switch several years back. Does any one know the implication for switching back to state ?.

will be interesting to see level of consistency:
which definition they use when you lose a day of pay?
based on example:
will they take $320.00 / 5 day definition or
will they take $228.57/ 7 day definition.
if NOT consistent, would be grounds for employee civil law suit.
it piggy back the employee abuse civil law suit.

Well, STD payment via Hartford is no longer full pay as you might think.

Oracle now has a contract with Hartford to pay your hourly rate spread over a 7 day weekly rate, with the so called justification that Oracle wages are paid weekly.

For example, if you make $40/hour * 40 hour (5 day) work week, you would expect $320/day or $1600 for the week.

However, the STD rate will actually pay $1600 / 7 = $228.57/day, skimming off over $100/day due to that fictitious work week definition.

So, given that same week, your pay will be in the order of $228.57 * 5 = $1142/week, missing $458 you realistically expected based on common sense and honest which is obviously missing at Oracle.

The corruption at Oracle is mindboggling.

answering a post above, the pay rate for STD depends on what you elected in the yearly benefits sign up.

today all the benefits links are down, payroll, etc. the hatchet is coming!

72 hours for sick time? Not even two weeks? Even the smallest cheapest companies I have ever worked for gave you 80 hours. Welp, thanks to modern technology, you can log in remotely, stay logged in and not burn up sick time.

This place circling the drain.

Is the STD still through The Hartford? They are awful to deal with. Had to call them constantly bc they stop paying even when Dr said I couldn’t go back yet.

They got to get that $73 billion they are in debt from somewhere. LE’s not gonna pay for it, even though he could. The solution for the rich to get richer has always been to tax the poor. Think of it as a tax.
