Despite being sick of this company, I wouldn't want to lose my job now that a recession is coming. It is always better to leave voluntarily. I am curious about those who went through that experience, did you notice any subtle signs that you would be the target before you were laid off? My manager is unusually nervous these days.

Red flags:
- Releasing contractors earlier than planned.
- Freeze on hiring T&M contractors.
- Analysis on time reporting to see who and why charging Expense activities.
RE-Orgs and missing financial targets are the two biggest red flags. Have you seen either of those recently?
Allow me to be your first downvote. It's better to quit than be laid off? Not when it comes to unemployment. You aren't thinking, son...
Ranking is one thing, but a point system is a slippery slope based on the criteria used.
You’ll know when Rifs are coming. As soon as managers are asked for “employee ranking” they typically use a point system, points for education, skills ect … higher on the the list safer you are it’s that simple. Ultimately master degree scores big points but comes down to if your manager likes you :)
Verlieson is one giant red flag. And there is only one "F" in RIF. That is because it is an acronym...
Ive been riffed a few times generally it just happened. Big layoffs may make the boards or leak around other ways but at least in the past there are constant changes going on.
Reorgs, new leader wanting everyone at their site, outsource or transfer responsibilities.
I noticed a red flag when i was outsourced to infosys.
I was recently impacted in the OP&OO reorg. Had no idea it was coming. Was told back in November the reorg was coming, but told there would be no job impacts. Thankfully I found a new role and was able to stay, but no signs. My own manger was impacted also and had no idea.
Pretty much every layoff in the last 10 years has been leaked to this board either one week or up to one day early so your best preparation is just to keep an eye on these boards, the private employee subreddit it's pretty helpful too even though they're rebuilding from the ashes after the original mods from the original subreddit nuke the whole thing because they were getting pressure from the top because of the organization of employees talking about unions
