Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

I just got pinged by a Fiserv recruiter

For a position that is almost the same as the one they laid me off from after 5 years service.

At 1st, I wanted to ask, "Ya think?". But I told the recruiter, "Do you think Fiserv can afford me?" I'm currently making 20% more than my last Fiserv salary. And if my skills are so much in demand, why did Fiserv RIF me in the 1st place.

I worked at a place that laid me off after 3 years due to cutbacks. 6 months later they called me back and offered me a contract position, which I accepted. Few years later I was rehired full time and had another 8 years with the place... I'd go back in a heartbeat if they'd have me.

I am still waiting on the recruiter's response.

I have had another instance in my career where I was RIF'd and then asked to come back. I turned them down then because I felt like I had moved on, and why would I go back to a company that didn't want me back then?

When I told a recruiter my salary per hour, with job responsibility, she laughed and said YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT? My manager tried to get good pay and was turned down, and this long before FIRST DATA came in. Fiserv paid poor salary always, and First Data shows you the door if you don't like it. So don't like it, stop posting junk here and get out of the building to a new life.

They RIFfed you to make their numbers. Now they want you back to make their numbers. Numbers, numbers, numbers.

What did the recruiter say when you asked him that?

You cannt make this stuff up.

Another illustration of Frank's insightful leadership: fire people only to realize later that the position is needed. There are costs with severing and hiring people from a balance sheet perspective.. there are the human costs as well! Yeah, great leadedship.
