Invited to a suspiciously generic meeting, hour block, with two GFCCP directors as the organizers. First person to show up on screen you could tell what was going down. PayPal axed us with zero warning, execution style. Unknown total.

This isn't "cutting the fat" of those with issues. This is entire departments, across multiple roles, as well as team and group leaders. If it were a few people here and there it's one thing. This is probably 95%+ of the US back office positions across at least San Jose, Chandler, Omaha, and Chicago. (Plus what they already did to Dundalk/Dublin) This is Seller Risk, Buyer Risk, Brand Risk, Global Credit, Merchant Risk, Success Enablement, Compliance, Due Diligence, Global Financial Crimes, that we KNOW of currently.
All those jobs have been shuffled to MX City, Guatemala, Bangalore, and Shanghai.
That's not "cutting the fat" that's outsourcing jobs for cheap labor.
For the GFCCP Due Diligence team it appears the layoffs today impacted every U.S. based employee in both Chandler and Omaha including the senior manager, managers, senior investigators and investigators. The entire U.S. (and from the news articles it appears Ireland too) DD teams have been outsourced to Guatemala and Mexico.
@uoj+1gTZrpGs Your thoughts could not be more inaccurate and you could not sound more inept if you tried. Rest assured no performance, disciplinary actions, or issues over here and I was a part of the layoff. Shame on your for coming here to sh-t on people. Karma is a bigger bi--h than I’ll ever need to be, but feel free to sit on a pus infested d*ck and rotate.
my GF got cut in GCSC as well. the call was today. they were done very quickly, they could not speak up, everyone was muted.
@qyi
Same thing here, 5/24/2022 at 12:30pm ET (9:30 PT). Sterile one-way communication in exactly the same style. I worked in Global Credit (GCSC).
4 hours, 1k views, LOL, is the entire company on thelayoff.com???
what does the corp comms brigade have to say about this?
They are moving edd to Mexico. Xoom and Venmo will be handled in Guatemala. So those US jobs are being out sourced. @uoj I agree. They do get rid of low performers in this fashion often.
Yeah, @uoj+1gTZrpGs that is not the case. If they got rid of the bottom feeders it would be the NY office, but instead it's more bad decisions coming from there.
@uoj+1gTZrpGs they ve been training in Poland, lithuania, and India for EMEA so we knew it was coming for the whole department. What p*sses me off is the whole 'c'mon you ll be grand' speech . Ultimately the whole site will be down as they re done with the irish government tax agreement. Time to move on ( or try ) folks. And remember, for big corps like that we're just a bunch of numbers. the problem started as soon as they got on stock market. Only thing I hope now is that their new hire work like proper noobs and make them lose a bunch of money. that d be pure karma.
nah, @uoj this was not the proverbial 'cut the fat' exercise, this was a real and well planned layoff
This is not unusual for PayPal. They have done this multiple times especially in the back office. They usually get rid of single person departments that are no longer relevant, bottom performers, and people with disciplinary issues. Most people see it coming if they are bad at their job or have disciplinary issues. Just “cutting off the fat”. This is good for the company but does stink for those who were let go
All of back office Seller Risk got it as well. Including Leaders, and Group Leader, both Omaha and Chandler.
Same thing, generic meeting invite. Instant they came on, you know what was going down. Not allowed to speak, or type or anything. It was all of about 30 seconds I bet to get told we had no jobs. They took a whole sterile 10 minutes to tell us "here's a bunch of severance stuff, from now on just contact HR"
Then "Ok, we're done" CLICK
thanks @zex
(OP) I was in Brand Risk - have a couple teammates i knew that were also included, and a bunch that weren't. Not sure what the criteria used was, but if you look at the news, PP let go 80+ in San Jose, and over 300 in Dundalk/IE. Compliance/Risk across the board looks like. Not any specific team or department
hey @ldr - how many were in your laid-off group?
Same. GCSC 1230ET meeting. Direct manager didn’t even know.
How big was that laid off group GFCCP (financial crimes)
Layoffs
Make sure to leave reviews on Glassdoor.
So who is minding the ship???
So we all agree that the all GFCCP department is gone? A few numbers were provided but they did not say the whole department was gone. Even though the headcounts of 114 in a sub- org tend to go this way..
Got a call from a friend. He has no idea how many got fired but he was in tears
Just got a msg from a friend in that dept . yeah they wiped out the whole dept.
