Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Attrition @ Hight Tech Companies

All big hyperscalers and tech companies (Oracle, Google, Microsoft, SFC, etc.) are complaining about high levels of attrition. Every single company out there sings the same tune - employees are not loyal and there is a ton of attrition. Are employees just playing musical chairs here???

So, if everyone is complaining that people are leaving, where are all the people going? Is there a ton of startups springing up and they are sucking in all these resources?

So true but so sad
Good news is it’s all coming together.
Exposure of people being treated so badly as you mention will come to light. It’s unacceptable.

Probably one VP will have to face the wrath of the federal govt but he did it to himself for what he did to a hardworking individual. Wonder how many patents file doing the same Timing is interesting.
Corporate greed during inflationary time when many hard working people - like the victim. the ordinal inventor of fraudulent patent - have no clue how they will buy gas to get to work next week and buy groceries to feed their families
Hearing that this same VP calls employee commodities will no go well with the feds and the media will keep this story going for ratings.
This VP is a goner and his arrogance will be a furthur issue.
Especially when they do the character investigation used in one their reports which social media has made it much easier and interesting
Every post that can used against him
and every person associated with him
will be scrutinized. If you like to read, in the past Friends and most family members were no where to be found when the feds got involved but now it’s different they still abandoned but often work with the feds to exonerate themselves because so much incriminating information is found and once documented it becomes public record. Things are not good for this VP.

Be loyal to your employees and they'll be loyal to you.

One of the difficulties with this is the corruption of the management at Oracle. If the management were made up of competent people, then they could do this, and all would be well.

But, the management at Oracle is made up of some really incompetent people. Those people cannot work in a normal way. If they hire good people, then those people will very quickly find out that the managers they are working with have no idea what they are doing. They can band together to overthrow that manager and then the manager is the one out of a job.

The way to stay in power and keep your job, if you are an incompetent manager, is to hire and promote other incompetent people. Then, they all can work together to make sure that no one better than them overthrows them.

This is what the real problem is. To keep the better people from moving up and replacing the incompetent managers, you have to keep them in their place. Management then works to separate competent people from each other. They incite and intensify differences between good people to keep them from working together.

If you have not read the lawsuit documents for the TG and SPMK lawsuit that was posted on here, you need to read that. That lawsuit shows you the pattern for how an incompetent manager tries to maintain control. TG is the manager in question. He lied about three reports working under him, telling each of them that the other two were worthless and he couldn't get any work out of them. This incites each one to avoid the others and try to do all the work themselves. TG was upset when one of them deliberately ignored him and brought all three of them together to work together. TG's response to them working together was one that looks paranoid to most of us, but from TG's perspective, incompetence, having his reports work together was a massive threat and he was sure they were working to get rid of him.

The result is the firing, lawsuit and eventual su----e of SPMK, the person who was trying to do the right thing for the company and technical success. The stress from working for management that is continually lying to you and about you is intense. I know, I have gone through it.

They lie because they are incompetent. They harass and intimidate the people below them because they are incompetent. Therefore, unless the management is replaced, the harassment and intimidation will continue. It is the result of the incompetence and fear that managers like this feel when they are trying to stay in power.

It cannot be fixed any other way. The management is in control of these conditions. They harass and intimidate to stay there. It is what it is, as they say.

It will not change. Get out of the company!

things are diff now. Just like in real estate, it's either a buyer's market or a seller's market.
in the jobs market, it is now an employees market, no longer employer's market.
the pandemic changed a lot of things. Employees are not commodities. Oracle's treatment of employees will come back to haunt them. There are many jobs out there. And small contractors are hiring other contractors. It's different compensation. The contractor that gets their first, hires other contractors and he gets % of what you make because without him, you would not have the work. You'll come ahead and make more than you did at Oracle.

Be loyal to your employees and they'll be loyal to you. Treat them like low grade mercenaries and, well, that's what you get. Why is this simple concept so difficult to understand?

Leaving your current employer is the only way to materialy improve your TC.

If you stick around you'll get a couple or a few percent bump and that's it.

Jumping the ship takes courage but it pays back quite a bit.
