Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford's best interests

I would really like to see that leadership is looking after the companies best interests. Strange as it may sound, I no longer have the impression that they are thinking about the future of this company. Unfortunately, I believe many think the same?

Yes they did get a couple of the firings right. But for every 1 they got right, they let go 20-30 good folks that should have been retained.

Oh, and the LL4/LL3/LL2 ranks are rife with the toxic people the last poster mentioned. Lots of LL4s especially with little man syndrome, that think they can make up for their shortcomings by being pr1cks.

While I believe the stories here of HR getting rid of good people, and I seen it myself last month, I also seen HR actually get rid of the type of people they should be getting rid of. One person for example, everyone knew this person was toxic and consistently so.. Just a rotten person. And did not have skills that we're all that useful to the company. Well, 2 weeks after the layoff week, I heard he was let go. Well done HR on that one.

@orj+1gOvnqPr That is what management is hoping for, voluntary attrition. First remove the skilled workers responsibilities, place them in a position where they aren’t the expert and don’t shine, hope they quit on their own, if not lay them off for incompetence.

One of the funniest (in a sick way) thing I observed at Ford was a female LL6 who was envious of a GSR 8 female’s skills. She lobbied to get the GSR8 moved to a different group claiming she was incompetent in her current job. Within a month the GSR8 had become the expert in that group and transformed the group. The LL6 lobbied her LL4 husband to have the GSR8 moved again claiming no one like the GSR8, once again the GSR8 quickly became the expert again. The LL6 got the GSR8 moved again, and again the GSR8 became the expert. The LL4 asked me about the GSR8 on a golf outing, I told him the GSR8 was the best I’d ever seen. The LL4 said, yeah but to keep the peace at home I need to get rid of her, but the -itch won’t die. The LL6 was SRD in 2019. The LL4 then retired. I have my doubts that there is peace at home even in retirement.

Ford management, from the CEO on down, cares only about their own salary and bonus. Nobody is looking at, or understanding, the impact on the company’s financial future. Press releases about future plans don’t make them come true.

Some of the moves we saw taken a couple weeks ago were baffling. Very knowledgeable people who have been in their position for a decade or more moved to areas they have zero experience in. It's a safe bet that competition will poach that talent quickly and we will be much worse for it.

@OP. Yes, you are not the only one having those "impressions". After all, actions speak louder than words.
