Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Why would people quit this firm ???

JPM is the biggest bank in the world, yet, turnover is high recently with my men and those from other teams have left the firm. I mean the big name alone will make people see you as god for working here, they should stay here until they retire but the big name is not stopping them from leaving ? It is very ungrateful if you ask me, do you know how many people wish they could work here ???

I know someone who quit even though they don't have a job lined up. They were planning to take summer off, spend time with family. Thats how much done people are of this place.

Talked to a colleague of mine who has been with the firm for over 25 years. The nature of her job required working 80-100 hours a week for a month every quarter. Seasoned VP, She was making less than 1/2 of avg comp for a VP position listed on Glassdoor (she was also making less than any newly hired associate)
Loyalty doesn't pay any more, the firm will discard you at any moment it likes.
If you have a family you cannot afford a luxury of working for the same employer for more than 10 years.

Jpmc is a good to have experience on your resume, not a place where you would grow your career long term. Look around you, how many people have left the firm for other opportunities? If it is as good as you think, then people wouldn’t be leaving.

No matter how hard each employee work here, we are just merely fulfilling someone else’s dream, not employees themselves, not to mention we all could let go anytime. Thinking that people should stay here forever and sacrificing themselves, including mental health and family time, just for a corporate job is ignorant, narrow-minded and shortsighted

I thought JPMC was a good name brand to have on my resume.

Current experience trying to switch to higher paying job in tech - finance/JPMC background is not that big a deal, and more likely a deterrent

Totally understand why people would leave the firm. I mean jpm is no place for slackers so makes sense people are running away from their problem.

All you crybabies want to blame the firm for your own incompetence? Let’s face it. Y’all switching job is because JPM is way to advanced for you mediocre grunts to handle. We don’t want losers anyway.

New Job is more Money.
New Job doesn't have managers pressuring you to adopt personal viewpoints you don't agree with.
New job doesn't have 3 layes of useless managers micromanaging you

It doesn’t matter. What matter is they are the first name that pops up when it comes to biggest financial institution. Keep in mind the firm pays your salary so in a way, you owe them. Or else how does your mortgage or car loan being paid, or even how do you afford diapers for your child ?

Do you go around and tell people how much you make in real life? People wouldn’t know. What they know is where you work and your rep goes up when your buddies know you work at JPM

Chase is well known just because they are a big firm. Why are they big? Greed. Culture of inequality and bottom dollar workers. They don’t care about their employees or their reputation. Only $.
