Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Early retirement

I know a few people who are eligible for early retirement but they've decided to stick it out. I wish I was in their shoes because if I had a way out I'd already be out of here. Is it worth it to waste several years of your life by remaining a part of this mess when you could already be enjoying your freedom?

Since Fiserv has no Retirement Benefits other than a small contribution to 401K what do you consider 'early'. No matter when you go you get the same.

Totally agree with the early Retirement. Life is too short to work at a place like Fiserv that consumes your life and causes stress. Too many projects not enough staff and IT support is a whole mess in itself.

Fiserv likes to early retire people. Not by giving them money but firing them so late in their careers they struggle to find work and give up. It’s fun for those guys

Sadly not all who are offered early retirement can afford to actually retire. They may be trying to "stick it out" for a few more years.

Do not waste years of your life. You only get a set few of them and there are no do-overs. Learn something, do not waste time, and when learned, consider moving on. This is for ANYTHING you do in life too. And the older you become, the tougher it can get too, never mind knowledge, to get a new job. If you are fine to head for the door, plan carefully and leave.
