End of Retail?? You decide..
….and now a series of unrelated facts...
“Authorized Retailer” and “Premium Retailer” signs have been removed from those stores. (By design to convince the consumer that they are dealing with Verizon)
Your DM now has supervisory role over the “Retailer” stores. This is part of the plan so consumers will have the “Same” experience in both “Company” and “Non Company” stores. How can they do this? Not by bringing the “retailers” to “company” store level support, rather they are bringing the company stored down to their level. (here is a number to call for this and another to call for that).
Company stores have been reduced to “selling” credit cards with the end goal to be get “Verizon” out of the “finance business” for phones. (put it on the Verizon card for some interest free or other offer). This will also eliminate the need for CORE /PACT for credit reasons and all customers will be approved for service as they are with prepaid.
The “Visible” experiment has been quite successful. They do not finance phones and are able to sell services for half the price of Verizon.
Verizon and its stockholders have little or no care about the “Jitterbug” crew and ONLY care about the bottom line. Elimination of the company owned retail locations cuts out at least 3 billion in costs
Corporate retail is dead for Verizon. Indirect it slowly taking over. Indirect is so much more profitable for the company. No overhead or inflated salaries. Work for an agent if you want to stay in retail phone sales but it won’t be for Verizon
Not dead… but just not great pay . Retail is starting to look like a Best Buy now people still come in just for troubleshooting and billing questions also the pay is a lot less
Retail has been dead since the montgomery ward catalogue they just done know it yet.
People have been saying this for the last 10 years
Agent locations will still be around for the customers that want instant gratification but corporate retail won’t be much longer
With how stupid customers are regarding troubleshooting problems. There will ALWAYS be brick and mortar stores. Customers want instant gratification, not lets wait on hold for 2 hrs, then talk to India, then wait for a phone to be shipped.....
Everything wireless is going online. There will be no need for retail stores in the very near future. For the customers that want to buy a phone in a store, they will still be able to go to Best Buy, Walmart, Apple, etc. To have brick and mortar stores exclusive to sell phones and service is dead
Yea because verizons digital systems are sooooo reliable......we are in the middle of beta testing 2.0 and the error and customers leaving frustrated has to be costing Verizon millions. Let's end this experiment and go back to 1.0 where system actually worked.
