Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Stop giving up!

The more people stay at home, the bigger our chances of forcing the leadership's hand into accepting WFH is here to stay. Every day I see people who've already thrown in the towel. I'm unclear on why, since I haven't heard of anybody getting reprimanded over refusing to come in as of yet. This can still work out for us if people are determined and unyielding.

None of you mention a mandatory RTO schedule like our technology group has. Yes that's right. Our manager sent us a calendar of what days and who are mandated to be in the office. I'm with the poster. Dig in. This b.s. Many of us were remote before covid and we are staying that way. If they push we will spend time interviewing for jobs elsewhere

I didn't go in a single day this week. If my manager has an issue with it, they can sit me down, and we'll have that talk.

I was visiting another area of my building and half of the department decided to work from home. I am not sure what to think of it. I'll see if it happens again soon. Maybe they were sending someone a message?

While I’m in favor of the power of collective bargaining through unionization the logistical reality for us makes it difficult to follow through. Amazon employees only unionized one single warehouse, not their entire workforce. I’m not sure what strategy we could take at Wells Fargo to unionize. Maybe once the hub strategy is in place individual hubs could pursue unionization.
A better strategy for us would be to force change through investor activism. Vote against the board at every election. Recruit other activist investors to buy Wells Fargo stock and vote out the board. Good place to start would be on Reddit’s wallstreetbets forum and others like it.
We could force change democratically either by replacing the board or by pressuring them through the threat of replacement. I’m sure they don’t want to give up their half-million+ a year in compensation for attending a handful of meetings for a few hours a year…

Network disconnects have been reported at multiple sites, wired or wireless.

My building is seeing frequent issues with power in the cubes. It seems that when they shrunk the cubes down to the tiny hotel cubes they are now in order to double the desks, they didn't increase the power. It was shorting out when too many people had stuff plugged in and it seemed kind of random as to what things were plugged in. iPhones, Laptops, fans, lights, some people are even bringing Keurigs so they don't have to go to the breakroom to share space with people who aren't masked. But each time it goes out, its around 2 hours to get it fixed. Laptop people are OK, but the people who bring those tiny desktops back and forth are screwed until it's fixed.

Better yet we can unionize! Amazon did it, and they are a tech company, so we can as well!!!

I’m with you, but be sensitive. Not everyone is in a situation where they can risk being terminated. The more of us that resist, the better though.

The temperatures in Charlotte buildings were set to 75 most of the year before the pandemic. We got fans for our cubes. It always made me sleepy.

It was cooler in winter, so we wore sweaters.

It was never comfortable so that hasn’t changed.

I agree. I have been in two days this week and have had so many tech problems it is unreal. Yesterday I was continuously getting disconnected from the network. Haven’t found a single cube where the monitors or charger work. They had two years to test and fix this stuff. Also, the temperature in the building in charlotte is miserable. Know where all these problems are avoided? Home.

I'm with the OP on this. Employees need to seize the moment and expand their power, not shrink from it and act like lemmings.
