Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

I don't hate my job

I'm saddened to see how many younger employees hate working here. I can't understand why. The pay is good, the benefits are good, and it's a secure job. Yes, there are occasional layoffs but they are rare enough to be among the lowest in the industry. So what is it? What makes this job so bad? I'm curious.

"Yammer positivity"? You meant to say Yammer Brainwash! The only ones who post on Yammer are kool-aid drinkers!

There is quite a few older folks who hate it here and are just biding their time.

Most people enjoy their jobs and working with their immediate team members. The constant layoffs, hypocrisy by upper management, and stifling of promotions and opportunities is where all the complaints are generated. The company pushes an echo chamber of opinions and unfortunately this relatively anonymous site is one of the few places where people can post an alternative viewpoint.

Don’t worry too much. This site only represents a vocal minority of ‘dead wood’ that we didn’t catch in the last reorg. Best to stay away from it and stick to the yammer positivity!

Reasonably secure? Every day I feel like a other re-org and lay-off might be announced.

I disliked the endemic hypocrisy, it just wears you down after a while, you put up with it because as you say the pay is fair, it’s reasonably secure and most of your colleagues are nice.
