Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Brain drain will destroy Fiserv

If Frank doesn't manage to do it in some other way sooner, the constant brain drain will destroy Fiserv in the long run. Too many older employees are leaving and taking tribal knowledge with them. They can't be replaced as easily as leadership may think or hope. Even if the leadership was replaced with competent people, it might already be too late for the company.

It is a shame to see the loss of all of the experienced people from Fiserv. I will be leaving as well. I'm sad because of all of the people I know are going to need my help, but won't be getting it. Sadly, moving on seems to be the right decision as Frank seems more interested in cutting costs and making the changes a roller coaster ride. I've heard that others have been on this roller coaster ride with Frank and they have left already. They didn't want to be part of this mess. It's depressing to see a fine company start to circle the drain.

I really have to quote Tom Cruise about "following the advice of the galactically stupid"

It is not as simple as making documentation as you go. I was part of a group that spent a year documenting a ton of stuff. Then guess what we re-organized and basically threw it all away. Remember OFS had re-organizations every 1-3 years pretty consistently.

Just take all the documentation of every product and put in in the same location without any organization at all. It will be fine.

@kgw+1g0nRM4r spoken like a true agile coach with the Fiserv sarcasm thrown in.

True SME's have had little to do with documentation but this author is too much up their backside to understand nor does the author have any real world knowledge or experience.

Lets see how our clients like taking to these newbies watch the LTR plummet!

OFS was not in bad shape until they took on OFD's massive debt.

Thing is, if those people were so great, the company wouldn't be in the shape you describe. Documentation is easy to produce as you go, or during testing, immediately after implementation. Nearly impossible, years after the fact, without a dedicated "documentation team" tasked with doing that and only that.
But yeah, if they had done their jobs years prior, losing the tribal knowledge wouldn't matter at all. Still, no company allows that fact to hold them hostage for very long. Doesn't matter what you do or know, you can be replaced if that needs to happen.

Its already too late my friend as posted here previously this week a consultant will be turning off the lights. APS is bound to be sold off to a Indian Tech company (think cognizant) its in dumpster fire status (yes that includes DNA) now.
