Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Losing motivation

I thought that working at Exxon would be my dream job. I always wanted to work here and I was overjoyed when I finally got the job. What can I say, the enthusiasm was short-lived.
After how much time have you lost all motivation to work here?

My motivation started to slowly go away when they cancelled my trip 2 weeks before take off in early 2020. I did have quite some left but all went away when they announced the salary freeze on 21st of November, 2020. That is 2 years and 3 months.

@qvd - are you in Clinton (Annandale)? If so, I think you are my former supervisor!

Working at EM was my dream job.

Mo--nic Managers should be PIP’d.

I am having to deal with the craziest human that I have ever encountered.

His sponsor will not admit he chose the wrong person. He will move up and torment even more people.

This is common throughout EM.

Personally, it wasn't worse than any other job until about April 2019 and the Upstream reorganization. Since then, it has been getting worse and worse and worse for morale. If health insurance wasn't tied to employment in this shithole country, I would already be gone.

Always start any new job with an exit strategy and never stop looking for something better. Let that be your motivation…

Were you that kid poking that pirogue down the bayou looking at all the busy men wrapping those chains? Covered in mud?
You had dreams of working for that.
Or maybe that kid taking in that ethylene sweet smell coming off the stacks, dropping that IQ to a comforting level? Living on the fence-line.
Or that kid writing tv shows from his daddy's executive legacy with Humble Oil. And never selling even a pilot to the network. Texas not popular then.
Dreams are dreams.

Time to let them go.

The only thing better than my first day at EM was my last day at EM.

There. You have something to look forward to.

Sometimes when I’m down I go to the last stall and rub one out.

Today I stopped halfway through. No motivation. I’ll try again tomorrow but I don’t let it define me!
