Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It’s still true: Oracle is a law firm with a database division.

Was in another post, had to put this up front.

DO NOT work at Oracle! Only rats work there. You are NOT a rat! Get a job in a decent company! There is no decent tech being worked on there. Everyone who knew anything has left and the lying rat management that is left is trying to hire some new blood they can exploit and use for their own purposes.

DO NOT work at Oracle!

Oracle has been moving away from the database and on prem software since 2016. They're moving away from OCI too no matter what BS they say. It's all about SaaS now. They need to spend $26 billion to become competitive with OCI- instead, they are acquiring Cerner for $26 billion. Money talks.

"The db is still the mainstay of Oracle."

Maybe it depends on how you define "mainstay"? Sure, DB support revenue is still significant to the bottom line. However, DB license revenue is certainly not growing. In fact most Oracle DB customers are trying to figure out how to get rid of Oracle. Meanwhile, I doubt that cloud DB revenue is growing much, if at all, and the company is doing its best to hide those results hidden, which tells you a lot right there.

The db is still the mainstay of Oracle.

Umm, no. It's not.

What's the apps growth year over year?
What's the SAAS growth year over year?
What's the DB growth year over year?

Yep, thought so.

With that much at stake it is easy to understand why the tech guys are relegated to selling to the neckbeards in IT.

LOL

A note to the admins. You need to make it harder for someone to modify the vote count. I suspect they are modifying local storage so they can vote more than once.

The db is still the mainstay of Oracle. This nonsense between apps and tech is just that, nonsense. Some Oracle infighting spilling over.

The last couple of posts about the tech org being clueless are spot on. I have to add that most of the complaining on this board comes from people who work in tech, not in apps. Somehow the tech guys have an over inflated idea of their value and importance within the company.

And the notion put forth that Oracle DB is the main feature of the company is pretty much a joke. That stopped being true 15 or 20 years ago.

"this statement is typical of someone who has zero knowledge of the apps/saas side of orahole."

I work in the apps sales org and this is 100% true. The tech guys are clueless when it comes to apps. Clueless about the customers, clueless the products, and clueless about how to sell their products to apps customers. We rarely bring them into our deals because of of this, even though they continually come crying to us to include them once we have moved a deal down the pipe.

I also want to add that apps deals almost always dwarf tech deals BIG TIME. I've seen apps reps retire after closing 1 big deal. It's not all that unusual to see our deals get to millions or even 10s of millions of dollars. With that much at stake it is easy to understand why the tech guys are relegated to selling to the neckbeards in IT. It also helps explain why people like the OP know so little about this company as they continue to go chasing their minuscule cloud tech deals.

Finally, given the M.O., it's hard to see how the tech org survives much longer.

this statement is typical of someone who has zero knowledge of the apps/saas side of orahole. The apps products/saas are way more valuable and strategic to the company at this point in time, and are still growing both in terms of both revenue and market share. Sure, the snarky-ness of the statement is funny, but is a tip-off as to how little you actually know about the business, and may explain the down-votes.

All corporations are political. Some are more open about it. Or less.

It is hard to take a tech company seriously when their CEO is a Wall Street lawyer and takeover specialist. And look who she supports politically: Marco Rubio??
