Q4 21 Survey: Troubling Employee Burnout Rate

According to survey results released recently, nearly 3 of 4 (73٪) employees (or as the Chief HR Officer puts it, "half our employees [50%]...") have experienced an impactful amount of burnout over the past 6 months.

He then deflects: "We know that the ever-changing external environment is tough."

What a slap in the face! Damn you, covid!

How does everyone feel about this spin job? Anyone else concerned by this metric?

Shame on you, Chief. What a clown show this has become!

PS: how is it that the word 'chief' is still acceptable in NM job titles? Surely that must conflict some D&I guideline?

So much truth here. The D&I is over the top. Anyone not female or of color can forget promotions unless they have sucked up to get another unposted job since the VPs have no idea what is going on with their own teams or who is really doing the work. Some promotions were put through for males by VP - SR, but after the new year to help bump the end of year female quota. SR has even played the white male privilege card in department newsletters. Learnvest NYC leftovers wasting company dollars traveling around doing Women in tech talks for other companies while teams are left without real goals. Any professionalism this company once had is gone. Many VPs need to go and so do the leaders underneath them. A rebuilding needs to happen. Too many layers of useless. Most employees want to deliver but are stagnated by over the top politics.

No my friend, it's actually 25% for each demographic! Spectacularly impossible in many markets.

For those that don't know either, management has Rooney Rules they have to follow for hiring new people. These often result in us losing candidates in this competitive environment because we have to interview a diverse slate of candidates, or else get approval from a VP for an exemption, which can take forever. Specifically, we must consider enough candidates until 16.7% of our hiring pool are women and 16.7% of our hiring pool are people of color. I recently lost a candidate because in the time it took me to get an exemption, the candidate received another offer they took as they thought we had been dragging them along. What's worse is they use data from the EEOC forms for these statistics.

I told a friend about this who works in legal consulting, and he casually mentioned the rules (without mentioning NM) to a friend of his who is an employment attorney. The attorney responded that if documentation were to be produced showing this, there would be grounds for a lawsuit, as EEOC data cannot be used in hiring decisions.

Shame on the leaders mentioned in this thread for promoting sexist, racist, and discriminatory behavior. Each of you are the real problem along with any other individuals that support this offensive and discriminatory umbrella you call D&I. People like Sangeetha and Neal do nothing but stir the pot and create problems that would not otherwise exist.

Short answer: Male employees CANNOT participate or receive coaching. This is discrimination and ALL employees should be outraged by this disgusting behavior. NM has hit a new low thanks to Neal, Sangeetha, and Don.

The coaching thing is being piloted with the Women's ERG first to fine tune the curriculum, milestones, etc. in preparation for a wider launch later this year or early next year. Then all ERGs will be offering it.

So males can participate in coaching as a participant? Yes or no.

If not, get ready for a class action lawsuit to follow for this blatant gender discrimination.

misinformed Caucasian cis het male rage has entered the chat

Speed coaching is a singular event and actually open to males for coaches. Might want to invest in some qtips to clean your ears so you can hear better.

D&I focus has been vetted thoroughly, but I can see how literal thinkers struggle.

Hope y'all have your resumes polished up.

If you thought the coaching thing was bad, wait until you see the people leader goals for this year. A strong case for lawsuits is being made.

In the Technology Department What's Up it was mentioned and later followed up with an email that leadership and development coaching is ONLY available to female employees. When the question was asked if this is true, Sangeetha confirmed that coaching is only available to women. How sexist and discriminatory has this company become? Clearly male workers are being unfairly and illegally targeted.

Don Robertson? He is a pox on humanity. Many have left because of him and his minions and many more will. Culture destroyer, possibly even worse than the leaders NM inherited through the LearnVest debacle. Great job Christian Mitchell! Now we will promote you despite your utter failure at anything and everything you have ever touched. Absolute incompetence.

Even better yet...don't forget they asked what the company could do to help with burnout and have shared zero info on that, other than to say "well, it's very individualized so there's nothing we can do". 2 years of great results aren't a problem and it's a wait and see on attrition.

Totally agree with you on 'Chief' titles. In this time that would be seen as insulting to Native Americans. I disagree for the most part....people need to get over the D&I crxp to some degree. But, if sports teams need to change their names we surely can come up with better job titles for leadership.
Basic MATH - 73% does NOT equal 1/2 (50%).
There is no point to surveys if you are going to brush them under the rug. NM has been doing this for years.
