Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Voluntary layoffs

Will do! Just waiting for severance. If they offer an apt out option again watch how many will jump at the chance. In the HAH program over 25 percent took the opt out option.

Let's see if this is true. How many of you would go for a voluntary layoff if you were given a choice? I think despite being unhappy, too many people have invested too much time here to just walk away.

@eus+1fpktpNo, not so when you’re above market and at the top of your pay scale.

@wrg+1fpktpNo The reality is very different. With derisory annual increases you cost Humana less each year. New people are brought in at market rates and these rates tend to go up faster than pay increases. This is especially true for RNs.

If you have been with the company 1+ Years definitely wait for the severance. 1-2 years gives you 4 weeks of pay with full benefits to give you time to find another position. If you’ve been here longer all the more reason to wait it out. I was RIF in October and am already working for another company, which means more than twice the income until my severance period is up since companies are paying more. It would have taken me 5+ years at Humana with 3% raises every year to get to the pay I have with my new company.

I would take it in a heartbeat. It’s a win/win for myself and the next company I work for.

Next “voluntary” layoff may be in the form of early retirement to slim down the older often higher paid workers. Last early retirement offering came in Fall 2017 at the same time our raises were delayed. This may be followed by an opt out prior to RIFing. That way they can replace the needed positions with lower paid younger people. This is how companies stay in business and is not unique to Humana

I would take it. You get the same severance package and I would have the opportunity to start looking for another job at higher pay. Pay scales are going up at this point because it just cost more money to live. Coworkers that left last go around are working again and talk about the toxic environment at Humana. They say don’t wait for the severance it’s not worth it for your mental health but I’m waiting
