Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

4 days of he-l…wrapped up on Valentine’s Day.

2/10 - given the news my position would be eliminated 3/11. “Apply for the open jobs” they said. After picking myself up off the floor, updating resume, and spending all weekend trying to figure things out, I spent all of Valentine’s Day and most of the weekend applying for 40 jobs because they all closed on 2/14. Pure madness. “We’re laying you off…30 days to find a job…and yeah, you better hurry because most of the new job postings will close in 4 days.” Oh, we forgot to tell you, the job search portal in about you SUCKS!

Ok, I feel better now.

Oh... you did it all wrong.
Try this instead...

1: build up a financial cushion so you can ride our a rif
2: keep your skills updated
3: keep your resume updated
4: find a rif resistant position (if it's a candidate for automation, stay away)
5: for the week of valentines day, rent a condo in vail and spend the week skiing and keeping warm in front of the fire with your significant other.
6: return to work relaxed and refreshed.

Now, doesn't that sound better than your way?

Can't you see Verlieson doesn't want you? Do yourself a favor and look for work elsewhere. Take your severance and run from this $hithole. Why do people so desperately try and stay here? Get help with your self esteem.

Of course the job search portal sucks? Tell me one thing vz makes that doesn't suck? Besides 4G LTE. Every thing else kinda just doesn't work very well. I always think its funny watching new hires on their first day all excited for a new job then compare to after training when they hit the floor and are annoyed that the tablets aren't working right and they have to spend most of their shift calling in to other departments for support with orders and systems. I think that's usually when they realize this job is a joke.
