The workplace has become unbearable. GMs are quitting and not a single SM wants to get promoted just to get treated like garbage. We are pushed to not do upgrades if they don’t have VMP. A new line isn’t good enough if it’s not SMB. If your store isn’t at the “minimum” requirement for a certain metric managers are now being punished by having to get on a call to read out to the district on why you did not meet the minimum. We are required to send hourly updates and an end of night update. The micromanaging is unheard of. Everyday is a punishment. This isn’t an issue with one store, ALL the stores feel the same. The culture is toxic and your frat boy management style isn’t working. It’s demotivating and demoralizing. Is this the general direction of Verizon or is just the way he manages? Does your DM do these things? What’s the culture like in your area?

Honestly , this all comes from the director (DF) , this guy micro manages the DM’s to the point of threatening their jobs….
I vote no confidence in any of the directors

You sound Just like our DM. If we are all losers guess who our leader is? Winners don’t lead losers for years on end they create winners by encouraging, teaching, caring, empathy, promotions. With influence comes responsibility! Muscling and intimidation is a short term solution. Your “Yes men” that you promoted aren’t doing a good job by constantly going out on stress leave. Instead of us quitting you quit cuz your management style isn’t effective judging by the numbers.
I feel bad for the DM. It sounds like a district of losers and a lone DM that wants to win. The op and the rest of the loser bunch should quit.
How about the hourly updates of that stupid vmp , esim sheet?
I agree!! The fact that we are punished for not hitting a certain metric is demoralizing !! We already have low morale so lets demoralize our managers some more by putting them on a call daily to bash them for our numbers.
All DMs are out of touch with how everyone feels, no one cares , no one cares that “YOU” want to hit numbers to make yourself look good, honestly the consensus from all the managers do not care!! And 100% truth that no reps want to move up because they see all the cr-p you roll onto us!! And no SM wants to move up because of the same cr-p !!
Culture is in the toilet. It’s like this anywhere. The only stores that have good culture decided they are running a business separate from the Verizon corporate BS and have a DM that supports them. Very rare. It’s simple people, actually care about others. I know it’s a wild idea but if you’re in leadership and you find yourself having all these closed door meetings and strategizing the next person you need to move along you are a terrible leader. Go get your job at McDonalds.
It’s just survival mode now again. Covid is ending and rumors run rampant again of store closures and district consolidation again.
Everyone is just trying to build a resume to get out of retail and into SMB or Telesales to hide out till those get put under the spotlight.
Can't teach old dogs new tricks. It's all they know.
This is the way of the old Verizon. The only difference is we used to get 3k-5k commission checks to put up with the abuse.
I never get on that "call" for low metrics on account the store is crazy slammed and we are understaffed. Don't got time for video chats when there is actual work to do.
easy step up = convincing the customer that they need to change their plan to receive a promo or use the 5G properly on their new device. Sure you will maybe get a step up of that up grade but if they also don't add a new phone line, tablet, get two insurances and a phat bundle, well then you're dinged on the QoS report and could be put on notice if it keeps happening. Make sure you earn that 10 though!
Juice isn't worth the squeeze. That's boy right there.
You are missing out on easy step ups if you are walking so many upgrades. You’re missing out on easy money.
Pretty sure its like this everywhere. If I was a manager I would make up sh-t on those calls because 1. Who cares and 2. The juice ain't worth the squeeze
