My manager is only good at demoralizing and demotivating people. How did we end up with such bad management?
I don't know what's more weird, the fact that such incompetent people come to manager positions or that, despite their bad work, they still stay in their positions. Oracle is definitely on a downward spiral. Sometimes it seems to me that this company is working against itself.

I know someone who escaped, but it took the right opportunity. He moved to a company that needed to build up a team, and wanted direction in forming that team. It was considered an 18 month assignment, which fit into his retirement plans.
The trick, as always, is to find that role. To use the right tool for the right job.
I know older people who have moved out of Oracle. It can be done.
Replying to the last "Wow, tough love ..." comment, I agree with your sentiment except my experience is that many within 5-10 years of retirement have probably already spent considerable time and effort in an unsuccessful new job search. Ageism is alive and well in our industry. Maybe not in Silicon Valley, but in many places.
A buddy of mine with five years at Oracle starts a new job Monday morning. They have done exactly that, a 3 times increase all in!
Indeed — the best Revenge is leaving and tripling your total comp over Oracle in one fell swoop.

Well yes. Sometimes people need a kick in the pants to snap out of whatever haze they've fallen into. I've needed it at times, and I bet you have too. We all have, it's human nature. It's not done (at least for me, I can't speak for anyone else) out of malice but the sincere desire to help people get out of bad situations.
At this point, the only people who should not be looking to get out are those who have less than a year to retirement (not fair to an employer to get hired and leave 6 months later) and those who have absolutely nothing better for prospects. Otherwise, look. I know sometimes leaving an environment is hard after so many years but take that leap of faith - believe in yourself, Shore up whatever skills you need to move forward (consider it investing in yourself) and then start looking. You can do it. You are not helping yourself or your family by staying in a toxic culture. And for those who "have nothing better for prospects: Get your head out of your bu-t, get some training in a new field of your choosing and wake up.
That last post reminds me of one from Lincoln, “He can compress the most words into the smallest idea of any man I know."
It boggles my mind how the OP, like so many orahole employees, complains about his/her manager instead of seeing what is obvious to everyone else --- that the fix is to find a better job elsewhere and then go off and do it.
I mean I'm all for encouraging folks to see through the crisis of employment at the company, but so many of the remaining employees are too augured in to accept any personal responsibility.
Many of our leaders have, in the words of Walter Kerr, have “delusions of adequacy.”

The same way the company ended up with employees like you. The only people who are willing to work at Oracle at this point are people like you guys - folks with no capacity to work elsewhere.
It has been that way since at least 2010 when I was absorbed into the collective, and in all likelihood, much longer than that. You will not change it, you can not change it, get out before the entire mess crashes around you. It will only get worse as things deteriorate.
You need to get out. The management is never held accountable for anything and never will be.
