Now that I look back on the year I worked at Oracle, I think everything would have been easier and I might still be there if only I had better training. But I didn't. I was mostly left to my own devices. Now in my new company, I had more training in just one month than in all the time I spent at Oracle. I am writing this so that someone who is considering applying here knows what to expect.

Don't waste your time doing OCI training. If you are going to spend time on anything, train for a job in another company. Do your own reading, get up to speed. Companies like people who take the incentive to learn. Even if you don't know anything, you can state what you have been doing to learn something new in an interview and that will be impressive to a new employer.
If you are going to spend time training yourself on something, don't waste the time by training on OCI.
"The vast majority memorized answers, and rapidly forgot it all after the test!
In my experience, that is true of almost all management!
Certification. Worked for those who cared. The vast majority memorized answers, and rapidly forgot it all after the test!
Oracle wants EVERYONE to do OCI training just “to do it”. They have 0 plans with what to do with those people and no incentives for them to want to do it. My incentive to learn OCI would be to get a job outside of Oracle. To learn it and stay at the same sh---y salary level with no bonuses, no salary growth and more responsibility and stress makes zero sense.
Maybe they can find some newbies they can pay higher out of the gate to learn it but I think anybody that has been here 10 years with no real salary increase or bonus would take 25% or more raise to even think about it in any meaningful way. That’s obviously not realistic so those folks simply hang on a do the bare minimum while the motivated people go to companies with a stronger cloud future.
"Companies who go out of their way to train their employees are "coddling" them. Look at (recently purchased company). They coddled their employees and now look at them.". This came directly from a VP about 10 years ago. I will NEVER forget that,
Oracle had a monopoly on high margin low investment products. As a result, they could, and did, treat their employees and customers anyway wanted, They don't anymore. Think about that,
Exactly the reason Oracles needs to clean house & get rid of this mentality that no longer works starting with all Atlanta VP’s. Atlanta is a new tech hub. Oracle is the laughing stock in Atlanta because VP’s are the worst. Many former O employees are now employed in new Atlanta jobs. Word is out and traveling fast about Oracle Mgmt. Now is the time for major change. Oracle has to rebrand image to compete. Old business model, root cause has to be extracted otherwise success is impaired & Oracle will become a forgotten entity.

Things have changed so fast, and so many underpaid folks have left Oracle, there is no one remaining capable enough to do wide scale training!
Training does not fit into the sink or swim attitude!
True which worked for them for years.
Things are different now. Competitors invests in training and the result is, O is being left in the dust. They are doing it to themselves. They can not last.
