Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

HW org Q3 FY22 results are the lowest Q3 *EVER* since the acquisition

HW droids/trolls posting alternative facts in response to the recent post showing just how poorly the org is doing based on Oracle's financial results. Repost here to make sure nobody is fooled into thinking otherwise. Additionally, it is safe to say that EVERY quarter in the HW org is the worst ever since acquisition. When you are a dying BU, this is exactly what it looks like.
________________

Apparently Hardware grew 96% in Q3, and had its largest Q3 in 6 years!

The above is a an out-and-out lie from either a zippy in the HW org, or a troll.

Q3 FY22 HW rev: 798K (combined hw and support)
Q3 FY21 HW rev: 820K (combined hw and support)

Q3 was the lowest HW Q3 EVER since the acquisition of the POS.

I recall reading in The Register some time ago that Oracle has already announced 2034 as the sunset for the HW group, so seeing it shrink isn't all that surprising as even they admit the the HW group's days are numbered. I also recall reading that Fujitsu has announced 2034 as their sunset for their mainframe and server groups.

So again, why this constant attack?

Simple. He used to work in the HW unit, was laid off and is still bitter. Instead of moving on, he comes here to gripe.

Re: hardware sales force

Whoa, wait a minute. Oracle doesn't actually have sales people selling hardware at this point do they? If so, this is another great example of everything wrong with this company. OMG

It is not a surprise since Oracle canned the people who knew how to sell hardware.

This is not really a factor one way or the other. Hardware is so commoditized that selling a server and its configuration can be completely automated on a website. How many sockets do you need, what clock speed do you want, how much RAM, how many I/O slots. Sales people are no longer required. Just ask HP, Dell or Intel.

"Why do you care? They are making money. Why the enmity? It is not your company!"

Last I checked this was a site about layoffs. A constantly shrinking HW org means there will be constantly shrinking headcount. It's as simple as that.

It is not a surprise since Oracle canned the people who knew how to sell hardware. Without the hardware division Oracle would have to deal with some other declining company for their hardware needs. What do you propose?

It is not your company!

And why are you sidestepping the issue of hardware being a dying business?

There is plenty of other discussion here about other troubled divisions at Oracle. Take the entire cloud infrastructure org for example.

I don't think the problem is with the hardware or the people in the hardware organization. To put it another way, would you buy a car from Oracle? Even if it were a rebranded Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura? Be honest now. You know the answer.

All of that is true, but why this fixation on Hardware. All those issues you so eloquently enumerated are not unique to hardware? So again, why this constant attack?

Oracle is in trouble.
Don’t know why you can’t see it.
Not enough income to service debt.
Product development sucks.
Need to get rid of all product development VP’s in reorg.
Products are substandard.
Competition is too good.
Customers are leaving.
