Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Hiring contractors

What’s the deal with this amount of contractors being hired? Looks to me they just keep coming. On the other hand, the long-time employees are always in fear of being laid off, and the manager keeps saying that we are overstaffed and that there will possibly be reductions in staff.
Maybe they should hold off on the contractors and put a little faith in the people who have already proved that they can add value to the company.

Mass hiring of contractors (cheaper labor) is a huge sign of downsizing, a merger and/or selling.

Humana has always hired lots of contractors. We probably have about 30k now. Nothing new.

It’s so much cheaper for Humana to have a contracted employee. I agree with you but does not seem like that is the direction Humana is moving Toward. If your manager is saying there’s going to be a reduction you need to get ready. I bet something will happen in April for your department. Best of luck. Sorry this is turning out this way for you and most of us
