Is this really true? I’ve heard this statement multiple times by people at my workplace. I’ve also seen people claim the same thing on this board on multiple occasions. On the other hand I don’t know any actual people that left Chase and ended up at some other bank with a much better pay. The people that I do know that left for another bank are pretty much earning the same pay or even slightly less. Is there any truth to this or is this just a myth that Chase employees tell themselves to make their departure from the company less scary?

Oh he-l no! Don’t go to another bank. Get the he-l out of that sector. It’s a total shitshow. If you can’t start a business on your own or work freelance projects… but even then you shouldn’t settle for a shitshow. And don’t listen to Ina from the London Whale fame - yeah she retired and came back as a consultant. I left and have had my own business for almost 10 yrs. I come here when I have a rough day just to remind myself that I dodged a bullet while I was still you enough to do it. You can too.
Quit chase last year at 85 base. Left doing the same job at competitor for 106k base. Yes other banks pay way more. Hence why everyone is leaving chase.
The people I know including me got 15 to 25 more to join chase... so as the previous chap said it all depends where you start...
The people I know that have left received offers of 15k-50k more than they made at Chase. They went to competitors.
I went from Chase to Wells several years ago and got a $10K raise. At Wells, I've since had promotions and received a significant increase (more than 50%) in pay and bonus. I wasn't only at Chase for a year, but didn't see that happening to anyone around me, so I would agree that there is (or was) opportunity for more money at Wells.
Your biggest “pay” at chase is your fame of “working for the biggest bank in the world”, so unless bragging is your thing, you aren’t paying much
