Many think that the main reason the company insisted on returning to the office was to be able to control us more. How much more do you feel controlled in the office vs. working from home?
I, on the other hand, felt too controlled while working from home. I don’t feel any more micromanaged in the office than while WFH. Fiserv won't give up on micromanagement in either case.

A lot of companies have the unshakable mindset that employees, especially the grunts, will take advantage of the company, if given the opportunity. If you're working from home, you're hosing the company somehow. We don't know how, exactly, but you are. Here's the deal. If you work from home, you might put your dog outside while you've got five minutes between conference calls. That's stealing from the company. Of course, if you work 50+ hours a week and all weekend, well, that's part of being a professional.

The reason Frank wants people in the office is that he comes from an age where employees are not to be trusted. If they work from home then they’re at the gym, at the store, parenting, and so on. In other words: not working. Younger CEO will one day take over and come from a different background. Until then you got a guy that doesn’t trust you and feels you’ll take advantage.

I agree. I was always worried about productivity when I was working from home. Now that I am in the office I talk with my coworkers for hours at a time. HOURS. And I do not feel guilty at all. This is the explicit reason stated for why they want us in the office, so I will follow orders and talk with my coworkers about basketball. When we run out of teams we can switch to women's basketball.
Forcing people to relocate is micro management at the highest level.
Same either way. All of our micromanagement was driven by svp and evp. Manager only on our case end of month to clean up metrics.
this depends on your manager. if I was remote or in the office, things wouldn't change.
my entire team is spread out across the country, a mixture of remote and in offie, with nobody being local to our manager. we still deliver our projects with no micro management.
