Judging by the atmosphere it certainly feels like we can expect cuts. It is not my intention to spread panic, I am just wondering if anyone here has any insights whether there will be cuts?
I would most like to hear that there will be no cuts anytime soon.

Yes they are still culling people. Some of the wonderful Suntrust people they kept or now being shown the door. They are hiring new people to replace those and even bringing back some folks who took the package. Seems like a damn Twilight Zone episode. It is bizarre to say the least. By the way it’s all males coming and going. Good ole boy club isn’t changing just shuffling the deck!
It says everything that I'm having anxiety dreams about this company. One of those was about layoffs as of June 30th. If those are en masse, WARN Act notices would go out 60 days before.
I just received a recruiting email for a Tech-related role. The role was sold as helping Truist become AMAZING! in the banking world, and that only "the best" need apply. These supposed "best" people needed to sit in Charlotte, but it was okay if they sat in Raleigh or some other non-hub location.
Thanks to this board, I simply wished them the best of luck and deleted the invite. It was so hard not to write something sarcastic and call BS on their rhetoric.
Follow up to anonymous who is in technology and didn't receive an email. There are individuals working on merger, both in technology and otherwise, whose roles were never moved to a merger GL center. I don't know the exact split but I know these individuals are in the minority. The email went to those whoes roles were moved under a merger GL.
That is the SunTrust way having you to interview to keep your current position or apply for another position. They were not as generous giving severance. They did the same thing to me when they bought the Florida division of Huntington Bank. I interviewed and was able to keep my position but left after 6 months, they were horrible to work. I'm in disbelief that Kelly sold out to these snakes, They pulled this on off to everyone surprise. This MOE is garbage.
A question to the person that posted the comment below.
Are you in the MOE cost center? If not, then that explains why you did not get an email.
I work in technology and didn't receive an email like what was mentioned.

It's 2022. You no longer work for a "neighborhood bank". You work for a huge publicly traded company, driven by Wall Street expectations on profitability. Touchy-feely has left the building. Layoffs are ALWAYS in the works. Always.
Plan accordingly.
No matter what your intention, Bill, your very asking indicates you will be out in the next wave.
I don't know anything definitively and I can only speak to the technology side of the house. That said, tech employees working on MOE (in MOE cost centers; and all levels of employees) were sent an email basically saying to begin looking at internal job postings to continue their career at truist. While a date wasn't communicated in the email, contextually it appears that employees have to find another role, and at a certain point, those that can't/haven't will be let go via RIF. From what I have heard, you don't even get preferential treatment, you still have to apply, submit a resume and interview. Good luck to all.
