Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Changes from Employee Surveys?

Is anyone seeing significant actions coming out of the recent employee surveys? The last couple SIBG town halls were not kind at all to leadership. I've heard that some groups' survey results had as many as 25% of employees actively looking for jobs outside of 3M.

Is anybody at 3M doing anything to stop the bleeding?

For a group that was recently hit hard by layoffs a few changes have occurred since the surveys have gone out :

A candy/ snack box worth about 50 bucks was sent out to pacify employees in the group.

A few managers got promoted even though they had assumed their roles less than a year before ( talk about high potentials !)

There is already talk about hiring more managers since some groups have 70 or 80 people. Surely nothing more can be done to bring growth to a stagnant company than to hire more clueless people in redundant roles.

Meanwhile attrition continues at an alarming rate since nobody is impressed or convinced by superfluous measures taken as outlined above. Also a cursory 2% pay hike was announced for the group in general.

As senior leaders have also left in significant (percentage) numbers, lets not single out JG14 and near as only ones seeking career growth elsewhere.

Heard they did a global survey for those JG14+ and feedback was very negative. Not sure if the HR will be releasing the results.

Talking about attrition, the numbers are astounding. One in four of the new hires in the last three or four years are leaving.

Let us just take a moment to let that sink in.

Loyal 3Mers are largely demoralized and demotivated , thanks to covid stress, yearly layoffs, zero to little opportunities for career growth etc. , while younger folks are longer interested in staying put.

That is the current situation folks.

The bleeding has not stopped. Big changes are needed very soon.

the leadership have been rewarding the executives and vice presidents and others above Grade 14 and forgetting to sort out the middle management. The surveys just get in way of promoting their di-kensian methods. They say going forward they will be more green and diverse . Spending billions in the next ten years when it needs a whole new leadership team to take this forward. The current team have not progressed very much. It is incredible to see a once great and mighty company losing workers hand over fist. Nobody wants points for doing a good job, go back to decent yearly bonus for the lower end paid production workers, the best work and results were gained by doing this
