How are managers evaluated?

I really thought my manager would be cut long time ago. He is still here, of course, but because of him, fewer and fewer of my colleagues are still here. How is it possible for horrible managers to stay in their positions for so long? Some are even making progress. I would really like to know how GF evaluates their managers?

Remember, horrible managers have even worse managers who keep them. Incompetentcy trickles down.

It’s how well you kiss the higher up’s a-s. I know my manager moved into that position because he wanted the job safety. There were times we questioned lots of things but we had to do it because the higher ups asked us to do it. We even said that we can question the higher ups and talk to them and we were told not to do it because of repercussions. There is no accountability or meritocracy whatsoever. In another parallel chain that manager has been running the show forever and is there purely because of diversity reasons.

Yea look around …. My mgt chain has been in the same spot for easily over a decade (Probably way longer). We get shuffled around from time to time and reorged into different departments but 99% of the managers that were around when I started are still in the same level/spot, but maybe in a different department or area when compared to my first day.

Several have been demoted or offered tool owner or "other positions".

They bide their time until a position opens up and cut ties and roll.

How are they evaluated? It is a good old boys and girls club. They are promoted based on "diversity" and NOT based on any real experience or reviews from their teams. Just read the last few years promos resumes or on LinkedIn. I have watched managers with less than 1.5 years in management and no industry move up faster than managers 10+ years industry. The real good ones go un-noticed and ones with bad habits keep on cruising.

Because they all stick together and cover one another. Has anyone ever seen a manager fired from GF? Management and HR are one big untouchable club.
