Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Out of their league

I played sports my whole life. I played little league baseball up to college and semi pro ball. I was at oracle for 15 years and I’m at my new company for 75 days. The people I’ve met and worked with are like in the major leagues and the people I worked with in my GBU at oracle are like little league….ever tee ball more so. And there is a such higher regard for empathy and understanding and it’s being human and sadly, I never experienced that at oracle. Ironically treating people like um People, allows you to collaborate and align yourself with common goals. Im starting to get excited again about my future. One that was majorly derailed by such a terrible experience at oracle. It’s sad. It really is a terrible place to try and grow and develop your strengths. I think about how many friends I knew who are just so underutilized and basically just data entry monkeys. Even the people who think they work in “tech” at oracle are basically Microsoft word and excel wizards. The entire tech world has passed oracle. We talk about them now like they’re the hot sitcom in the 80’s. They have no one to blame but themselves.

The technical leadership fits this category. Great in development, but couldn't make the jump to pre sales.

I get what you are saying, OP, but I think you have your analogies mixed up. Tee Ball is for little kids, what I think you mean is that your new company is the major leagues and your GBU was the old Class "D" minor leagues. To put it another way your Current employer are the Boston Bruins and your former GBU are the Charlestown Chiefs.
