I would somehow find it easier to bear being overwhelmed to the maximum, as long as I knew that my job is stable. It’s hard to work and be productive despite so much instability. In fact, I barely have any motivation in a company like this. Isn’t that the most unbearable part of the job here, the feeling that your job is under constant threat?

I think I’m an astronaut 🤔
I was told I was safe. I took that as.. "you are safe today."
I don't feel safe at all. I know that there are risks anywhere. But if you are doing a good job, there should be less fear for next month.
That is a horrible way to feel.
Any job in any company can end today - we all know that. But when a company lets its employees FEEL that way, they really hurt productivity and lose good talent.
Companies that manage to make employees "feel" safer and happier (even if, they really are not safer), do better in the long run.
Underpaid: after I left Fiserv, a headhunter asked me my salary and I told her the truth. She laughed, " you're kidding, right? " Nope, and Fiserv always paid poor. So the general rule always was join, learn, leave. This was long before the First Data merger. That was the real negative and a sad one for the generally fine firm and work environment. No sapience.
Just leave. I was severely underpaid as a Senior SWE and I got a 35% raise going elsewhere even with unlimited PTO.
Hey. If you live in the real world, then NO JOB IS SAFE EVER!!!! You can generally be tired for any old reason save some age issues, which are still a lawyer's paradise. So don't be surprised on this one. JY or FB or anybody can fire anybody for any reason they like.
What other companies are forcing staff to relocate? In the post Covid world, flexibility and remote working is the trend. Someone tell the dinosaurs running Fiserv into the ground
I think having using the term astronaut to describe people shows they are not serious leaders
I was an astronaut that was told I was 'safe'. I didn't believe them. I left.
I know astronauts who are specifically told that they are safe, leave anyway.
When layoffs and forced relocations are happening around you, it's hard not to feel like your job is under constant threat. Morale is so low across the organization, it's incredible.
