Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Does managers/directors at Humana makes extra income to hire more people?

I work for Humana at technology. In my department my manager keeps hiring people even when there is not much work for us to do. They keep adding contractors after contractors as if these managers are getting commission from the vendor company to hire more contracting staff

Many good people has already left and new Hiring quality is at all time low. Can’t handle the extra work and stress anymore.

Humana is heavy on a contract staffing and cheap labor. Mediocre management constantly micro managing. Good people brings great people and bad people brings worst people. Standard of hiring is such a lower that no good people ever wanted to join.

I too have observed over hiring in my department as well. Some of this contractors are fresh college graduates and are hardly able to write code. In my department everything is well planned. They take a repetitive requirement and give estimates up to 13 efforts months for tasks as simple as few days of work. In fact this works out well for my team as everyone gets free time to enjoy and leader can shows of over achieving. It’s a win win situation. Not sure about extra income making part.

No, they don’t earn extra money for hiring contractors. It all depends on business needs and budget. If there’s no need for a permanent employee or if they need a particular skill set that’s harder to find, they may hire contractors.
