I got a job offer from Humana. After reading all stress you people are going on I am confused. Is Humana a good company to work for? My manager is going to be my old time classmate buddy and he assured me that Humana is a good company. What do you all think, should I join?

A job is a job
@1keo+1fGNjDZj I work for Humana at technology. In my department my manager keeps hiring people even when there is not much work to do. They keep adding contractors after contractors as if these managers are getting commission from the vendor company to hire more contracting staff
Last poster- what dept do you work in that you have free time??? We are so monitored that I don’t feel able to go to the bathroom when not on a break!
This place is having such a laid back culture that you get used to not working and free time. Almost 80% of people in my organization wants to leave Humana but they become so lazy that they can’t even find another job. If you are young and want to do your best job than Humana is not the place you want to be.
I agree with most of these comments. Humana most certainly is not a place you will find yourself working for 20 + years. The average years of employment seems around 7-8 before you will be laid off or leave because of the stress.. So it’s fine if you’re not looking for anything beyond that and if you can handle the constant stress that comes with layoffs wondering if it’s your turn or not. Think dodge ball or Russian roulette.
Humana is a okay company if you know how to network around. Just be a YES man of your manager and you will do fine. Don’t look for a long term career but it’s a great place for temporary stay.
Humana is a good company to get experience. It is easy to stagnate in a position so unless you keep moving up and getting pay increases you probably won’t want to stay for long. If you have friends in high places and buy into their corporate BS you can do well.
It is a good company. No job is perfect. There has been a lot of layoffs in past and I don't know how that compares to other companies.
How come your classmate buddy is hiring you? I thought supervisor can’t hire their buddies or someone they know.
I guess it really depends on which department you get hired in and who your supervisor/colleagues are. There’s many facets within Humana. (Humana Inc, Humana military, Pharmacy, etc.) Accept the job offer, see if you like it and if you’ll be a good fit. If you hate it, you can always find another job.
