Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Colorado Job Posting Salary Ranges

Due to a state law, Colorado posted jobs have to post a base salary range. I see engineering H ranges being 140-175K and G ranges being 150-220K. Most of these are BPX or pipelines. If I am about to be promoted to H, can I use these ranged in negotiations? What is a standard grade level % bump? I know these ranges are for external hires but the internal postings show them as well. So if they hired internally they would just lowball them out of this range?

I don’t think salary ranges are the same across the entire company. I was a G in Shipping and my salary was $135k. It’s been two years, so maybe everyone has gotten significant raises in the meantime, but I kind of doubt it.

Houston doesn’t post ranges but most people know…you’re probably being screwed

Use whatever you can,

I level is 120 to 150 so if you’re not on upper end of this range you should fight for higher pay.

BP is notorious for salary and promotion freezes and is on the low end of pay for the industry.

Historically they have justified lower compensation on relative “stability” but it doesn’t take much time to figure out a layoff is always around the corner.
