Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Three months of agony

How cruel must management be to hint at there being major layoffs three months ahead. We're supposed to just sit here and act like everything's normal while we know we might be out of a job by June? Is there ANY way to confirm if this is really happening or if it's just a rumor?

Original poster, welcome to the world of an evolving business, and what programs work or don’t end up working….you’re pretty much always at risk for a RIF, nothing is really guaranteed

I remember 💯 also. That was when Humana started doing their routine quarterly layoffs. I also am so greatful to 💯. We had no idea that a layoff was coming and it was a large one. Then the layoffs Just kept coming.I am grateful to this site also. We would be kept in the dark if we did not have this site.

Original poster, you haven’t been with Humana long, have you? There is usually the whiff of it, and then it seems to come after an earnings call, quarterly, as other posters have said….for those that have been through a bunch of these, remember when 💯 was posting info years ago? Don’t know who they were, but hope they’re doing well…if you’re still reading these 💯, thanks, again, and there was no one as spot on as you were!

What states can you collect unemployment after taking a voluntary layoff??? If anyone knows, please provide us information. I think so many people are tired of the Humana stress/drama that they are willing to take voluntary layoffs this next round.

I think the last layoff in the Humana at home department lasted so long because they gave people the option to voluntarily leave and had to group those people together and then lay off the remaining employees. So they announced that layoffs are coming in August and the next month people were able to say If they were interested in leaving voluntarily. An official layoff was done in October and end date of employment was in December. Large number of nurses and Social workers took the voluntary leave package.
It surprised Humana management

It won’t be a 3 month wait. Humana usually gives those being RIF a 60 day notice and that 60 days is almost always the last 60 days of a quarter… June 30 is the end of the second quarter. The 60 day notice would be given late April, so less than 2 months of waiting. This site has always been very accurate regarding lay off information. stay tuned over the next couple of months as more becomes known.

I have been with Humana for over 7 years. This is nothing new- but this time, if RIF happens and they offer the give opt out voluntarily- I will. The stress of the job and company are not worth it anymore. Humana thinks just because they offer the remote benefit - employee will stay. Well lots of other companies offer work from home benefits with more job security and work life balance. Good luck everyone.

Just get ready. This is how Humana rolls. May not be your department this time but it’s always good to have a back up plan just in case something does happen. Especially if you work for Humana.

Remind yourself- Everything is normal, no layoffs coming. In case, if that makes you feel better.

We just went through 2 months of waiting from August-October 2021. This isn't a new concept at Humana.
