Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Beware the Ides of March

While I am not expecting a huge layoff, there are way too many leaving for that. It is amusing, however, to read LinkedIn and see the number of folks happily starting new roles … elsewhere!

No it is not the rank and file that should have their heads up now, it is the upper management. After all it was Caesar who got it on the Ides of March.

If not now, when?
Planning for June is well underway!

So what’s happening in June then? Layoffs? What?

It’s too late to help anything. Fools wait until it is too late! I have been counting on a fool.

I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve seen managers go when their entire group goes away, but I have not seen management targeted as a group themselves. Certainly should be done. A large portion of the management is clueless, doing nothing and taking home big bucks. They certainly should go.

We may have a different perspective following the Earnings Call.

How has it changed anything?

Since leaving oracle I realize that it was easily the worst and most embarrassing place I’ve ever worked. The sad thing is I’ve encountered people who worked for big companies just like oracle who were developed and grown and nurtured. The mgmt at oracle should just be, um, taken care of and left on some island of trash cause they’re pretty much useless. It pains me to know I stayed so long but as we can see, we all made mistakes.

It’s time to take the p-igs to the slaughterhouse.

Simple economics. With less to manage, no growth, too much debt, acquiring companies in other industries, lawsuits, present middle management VP royalty salary expense reduction imminent. June plan has started. Cheap outsourcing increase earnings per share.

It will never happen. The management will never lay off their own. They are all in the royalty club. Nothing will touch them.

Agree that the getting is good for any role at any level. Looking to move 🆙? Take that step to a senior or mgmt position? There has never been a better time to find a new job.

ANYWHERE other than Oracle. The shift in the world and working that the pandemic brought is being summarily ignored by billionaire fat cats in charge.

Some orgs are just waiting for the “Old times” pre pandemic to return. Just like so many waited for the 2000 crash and pre-2009 crash economy to return. Waited too long!
