Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

What is the final straw….

That will break the camels back (BOD) to oust JD? The stock is in an awful spot - where analysts are projecting $175 - what happened to $195.

ELT cannot and apparently will not make a decision on return to work and they have revised it more times than I can count. Don’t get me wrong - I couldn’t care less about being back on campus but make a f** decision and stick to it - regardless of how popular/not popular it is.

So he has been here 2 years. I’m ready for his arrogant overpaid a-s to be gone.

Two missed financial quarters back to back and a sagging stock should do it.

I heard the communist made the COVID in a lab and is trying to ruin America from within and the Mask represent communism!

I of course, heard that all here on an anonymous board which is usually filled with people b****ing, complaining, saying how great Nike is, Anti-Vaxxers, and people who come on here who threaten to quit but its their outlet for frustration but actually don't do anything about. (Work with a few of those people... just do it. Literally... please leave the company, I'm tired of you telling me how much you hate this company... YET YOU HUNG AROUND FOR 13 YEARS.)

Sorry my own internal frustration is showing. But please... for my own sanity, leave. I'll even act surprised when you say it in slack call. I'll even say "Oh man Nike is so screwed losing you." Reality is, I'll go on do my job. Maybe leave too, maybe not. Idk - I don't care... this place is a place to work. Everything I knew from 2010 - 2015 was grown ups throwing money around and bragging about how they got the next "audi". Whoopie F'ing Do. Looking forward to hearing from those people again when I get to the office.

I’ve always seen JD as a transition CEO. Someone to come in, get the ship steered in a certain direction for about 5 years, then hand it off to a Nike lifer who - in all likelihood - will maintain that post for at least 10 years. It’s always important to remember that JD is a Bain guy at heart. He’s essentially a “consultant CEO”. I very much doubt that when he was selected it was with the intent that he sticks around for a long time. His eventual replacement is probably being groomed at this very moment to pick up the reins in another couple years after the current reinventing of Nike is done.

Returning to the office is COVID driven. Nike’s original January return date was set before Omicron was a thing. I don’t completely blame Nike for waffling on the return date because, well, Nike doesn’t have a crystal ball. I would agree the timing of announcements has been awkward and could have been better managed. Saying one thing and then reversing yourself two days later is never a good look.

Good news is that case counts are now rapidly dropping as predicted. I think 22% in just the last week. By the end of February or early March I believe we’ll get a “You’re returning to the office in 30 days” email. I’ll be surprised if that doesn’t happen within the next month. Look for a daily statewide case count of below 700 to trigger that announcement. Call that “a lucky guess”. ;)

The decision as to when we come back to the office is driven by Covid. I don’t blame Nike at all for changing the date as often as they have. They’re listening to health experts and local government. I for one, am in no rush to go back.

I remember about three years ago when my co-workers were joking about retirement when it started getting close to $85 a share. And this was after a year where they had some ki---r shoe releases and got people comfortable with paying over $200 for a pair of sneakers. Greed is going to ki-l Nike. How much is enough? Stop chasing bags of cash and get back to what made Nike relevant and inspirational to consumers.

JD has ruined Nike’s culture. Now it’s a racist, man-hating, toxic environment. So many leadership roles handed to unqualified people because of “DEI”.
