My observations of my new company since leaving Oracle. There are hundreds of ex-O’s at my new spot. I was at Oracle for 10+ horrible years in a terrible GBU.
They have more training they require you do. A good thing. Training includes talking about all the parts of the company.
People are happy or at least fake it.
The company is 1/10th the size yet processed and procedures are well thought out and get this, they save money using Google products.
High level of talent in the department I’m in which is kinda mix of tech/biz/cloud support.
Absolute pride working with the leader in the industry.
Perfect strangers offering to help off the bat.
Not relying on using cr---y little acquired companies but actually dropping your ego to use the best in breed (SalesForce, Google, Splunk).
The turnaround time on support tix during first few weeks make oracle look like they use paper and pencil.
Admitting Azure and AwS as best in breed.
Desire to WIN the day/month/years.
Desire to be the best.
Pride in being an employee.
Mgmt very clear when things aren’t clear. No BS.
If I am here a year or 10, it will erase the horrible existence I had at oracle and the despicable level of talent in “important” people and mgmt. Oracle is a complete afterthought and it was never mentioned by any companies I interviewed with. It’s time to cut the fat and lay a lot of those leeches in mgmt off.
