The other day I heard from a former colleague who helped me a lot when I first came here. That person was a great employee. She was loyal to this company, worked hard and hoped to be able to enjoy retirement when the time came.
Allstate ruined it all. After they cut her, even though she has very little time left until retirement, she still hasn't found a suitable job.
On behalf of my friend, shame on you Allstate!

Their pension plan is a joke. Don’t be fooled if you are new. It means very little. Maybe an extra 20K after 10 years equates to $100 a mont or cash out as they don’t want to manage it. No health or life insurance either in retirement.
Agreed with previous comment. It is sad that the layoff happened, but the job market has never been better, not much excuse unless being too picky or not looking
This isn't completely on Allstate.
Sure, getting laid off sucks, but if your friend isn't able to find suitable work in this unprecedentedly good job market, she is either looking in the wrong place or not trying at all.
