I am currently thinking about the benefits and disadvantages of going to a startup. I'm getting a little bored here and in big companies in general, and I've been thinking about leaving Verizon and going to a startup for a while now. If anyone has any advice or experience to share, I would be grateful.

I went from Verizon after 5 years to a small company, not exactly a "startup" but small and growing rapidly right now.
It's been amazing. I am valued for the value add I bring to the table, unlike VZ where it's meaningless. Everyone is much nicer and personable. I work about the same but the impact is felt much more than the death star setup of VZ.
no one offers pensions anymore except maybe some union positions
If that start up has Healthcare. And 401k and wages are the same go for it. Pension is important also !
