Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

A reminder- Your boss is not your friend

Many managers will ask you personal questions to give you the impression they care. Some do but many will use this information against you. One of my peers bragged that he could get his reps to admit to anything in a one on one. From dr-g use to cheating on their spouse and would use this information to manipulate the employee on a regular basis. To the younger employee that seem to over share about themselves, this is directed at you. Be careful who you talk to.

Very true. People are loyal to their pay check. Your only goal is to be 2 steps ahead of the person asking personal questions. Never let your guard down, document everything. This company is leading with intimidation and it ain’t cool.

They don't need to ask, just lurk on Facebook. And it goes both ways. I had a boss who posted drunk every night and every day posted about how he was hung over at work and not doing anything because of it. Another would spend half the work day going for runs instead of working. And they shared every detail of it.
