anyone have insight on when data centers will be shut? trying to figure out when I need to start looking for a new job. really hate the vendor that they brought in to run things. they take shortcuts and escalations to senior management fall on deaf ears.

At least I learned some thing out of this. We have data centers. Who wudda thunk rite?
They just made a +$600M investment in hardware and data center space (owned + co-lo). There’s no way we’ll be decommissioning all of those a year after CD1 especially given tier 2a, 2b, and etc. I think they’ll move some less mission critical and less complex systems. Large core systems will likely stay on-prem until Schwab invests hundreds of millions of dollars to re-write them to be cloud native. Good luck moving the mainframe to a cloud.
I can’t comment on their vendor, but I don’t doubt it.
Hahah whatever, they are opening MORE data centers. The growth this past year has scared them in to preparing for 10+ million trade days.
We have data centers!?!?
So the target is CD 1 by Oct 2023 and the target for shutting down the DCs is one year after that.
My guess is both posts the initial and the first response were by the same person
Integration will be complete by early 2023. Don’t believe the nonsense being spewed here by the green losers. We will be on GCP and data centers will be shut soon after. No one from green understands cloud, that’s why they are leaving in droves. Good riddance!!!
