Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Return To Office

Just the saw new Technology policy for RTO. In office presence is no longer optional, it has changed to mandatory. In fact, it reminds me of Bank of America's policy when it ended work from home. I am thinking the bank does not want to pay anymore severance so they are going to force people to quit or just fire them. I think it is insane to require on-site meetings with groups of unmasked, non-socially distanced people. Wells Fargo has done well as a bank for decades with employees working from home and has done well during the ongoing pandemic. Wells Fargo has officially lost its mind.

"This company better be checking against national registry to ferret out the fraudsters or a lot of people will be getting sick."

That assumes the bioweapon does what you expect it to do. It does not.

Mortgage leadership just flew in for in-person meeting. Sat in conference room unmasked for hours. WTH.

If you trust colleagues to be fully vaxxed (i.e., 3 jabs for Pfizer) and not having counterfeit vaxx cards, which are being sold everywhere, then you're delusional.

This company better be checking against national registry to ferret out the fraudsters or a lot of people will be getting sick.

I thought WFH was different for Tech due to recruiting challenges. That is a valid point. WF is NOT an attractive employer for those who have options.

What about people who don't live near a Hub?

Is there still a 40 mile exception, or are those people just going to get axed?

SD tried the same thing before SVB and got shown the door. If you read the emails today, it seems like he is facing the same pushback SD did. I’m wondering if his time is going to be shortened here. Until we have leadership that truly trusts technology and realizes tech is the only way we can compete we will continue to struggle.

You want to know the biggest problems with IT? For many years., the various lines of businesses have been creating their own shadow IT departments in their little fiefdoms creating a mess.

Instead of developing shared platforms across IT for all lines of business, these shadow IT teams have been duplicating the work of each other and IT with different standards.

We have dozens upon dozens of applications that perform the same functions for different LOBs. Each have their own release cycles, their own infrastructure.

Saul is trying to get rid of this and bring it all under IT. That way we won't have different development teams in each LOB working on different applications that do the same function as each other.

An example, for years WIM had their own logging environment, separate from the enterprise environment. That generates extra expenses for the servers, software licenses, network infrastructure, etc as they were just duplicating IT. WIM is being forced to migrate to the enterprise logging environment, which will reduce both CapEx and OpEx. This is just one example of countless ones that will need to change.

So will CS be face to face with people and maskless? This should be interesting.

No fool.

They were only repeating/acknowledging what they had been previously told. That's all.

Now, they are gobsmacked that management is now changing their tune.... again.

Heck, I remember being told by management that we we going back to the office after Memorial Day 2020, Fourth of July 2020, Labor Day 2020, New Years Day 2021, etc, etc, etc. Saw how that worked out..................

Huh the tech people on here assured us that they were special and valued above everyone else because of the superior IT services WF is renowned for?

Creating a situation in order to force somebody to leave is illegal. Google "Constructive Termination".

Not that they won't do it anyway. They know all this stuff, and any legal repercussions are already accounted for as a "cost of doing business".

yes, I think attrition is the game.

That's why they are soooo adamant about having to show up regardless if you are the only one in the office .

which then makes you wonder why they allowed diverse teams scattered across the country in the first place.

eh, no matter

It is not Wells Fargo that lost its find, it is the clueless top level management who are all cut from the same elitist cloth.

That’s why we are employees and no longer team members.
