Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

I guess they think this is sustainable

This is a miserable place to run away from. In my store, the situation is a little better, but I hear from others that there are stores that are so understaffed that they are now run by 3 or even 2 people who do all the work. That's terrible. How does BBBY think it is possible to run a business this way? In the long run, it is absolutely unsustainable.

For all those who want to hear from REAL BUSINESS PEOPLE and remind everyone on here that they are not REAL BUSINESS PEOPLE. They are just peons on the ground and they know nothing, eh?

This is self evident and retail su----e. Congrats.

You have to tell them all the positives of BBBY in the interview. Sure we may not pay as much, but pay is one of the least considered factors in employee retention. Tel them about our rich history of customer service. Tell them about the quality products and the difference they can make in others lives by selling them a long lasting durable product. Tell them about the teamwork and camaraderie between the team. Tell them about the exclusivity and prestige of working at BBBY and that they will be the envy of their friends. Then make sure to close the sale!

Are other retailers understaffed? Yes, but not to the point we are. We are grossly understaffed and it does not help that they cut hours. We are running on average 200 less a week. And to hire? That is a joke. I get scoffed at when I tell them the pay.

I’m sorry but other retailers are not in the same boat we are. There is no one working on the floor. I’ve been to plenty of stores and the amount of people compared to us is unbelievable. Even tiny Walgreens has more employees at any given time than we do.

Local Target has an army on the floor.
Just about every other aisle had an associate working freight or zoning.
Never mind countless associates with carts processing orders.
Local Walmart is the same.
Blah blah everybody is the same blah blah supply chain blah blah blah.
BBB is so far behind the curve it’s embarrassing.
They cut the hours!
So is the priority having associates on the floor? Wouldn’t seem to be the case.

I think the same person writes many of the "they" post. You do know many many either retailers are going though the same thing.. it is not exclusive to BBBY. Here is an idea..get another jobs

That’s right. It’s not. Nor is it safe. The thing to do now I think is to start screaming publicly how unsafe it is. This being a company that always wagged the tail of the safe dog…they are sure not doing that now. How safe is it to have a closer on the floor and a cashier and a key holder in a high crime area where the DA will no longer prosecute theft (CA)??? They thieve like they are the welcome customer!!! Wake up MT!!! Some stuff is about to become public!
