Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

USB, that's not the solution!

Maybe it can work that way for a while, but not for long. So how much longer does USB intend to continue solving the problem of people leaving by giving extra work to those who stay? What do they actually achieve that way?
My opinion is that this way they can only encourage those who have not thought about leaving so far to start looking for new opportunities.

USB management believes that they are a destination employer for some odd reason. Everyone is lucky to work here. Workers should be grateful for the crumbs. Turns out, it's not true. It's a place to get some experience, build your resume, and move on.

Sorry to break it to you, but this is not unique to us bank. It may not be all companies, but it's most.

Part of this is, management at USB never plans for anyone to leave. They are not bright and never plan for anything but the occasional free donuts. They always seem shocked that after disappointing raises, small bonuses, working excessive overtime, lots of stress, no SMEs, little recognition that people would leave.

When enough people leave, bring on another re-org! Yeah! We can also plug in fresh trainees as replacements for long suffering, dedicated, and abused workers.

They have been doing it that way for as long as I can remember. 1997 to be exact.

As we all know though, the times they have been changing and workers are fed up with being treated like serfs. More workers are joining or forming unions. Unions gave us the 40 hour work week and every other benefit we have come to expect. Reagan was the POTUS who gave us the 401k plan which let corporations out of funding decent retirement plans. He also fought tooth and nail against Universal Health Care and minimum wage hikes to match inflation. 30 years later and it is impossible for a family to live on one salary but child care costs more than most mothers earn! Something has to change.

In the meantime, those workers locked into their jobs are going to suffer because companies like USB are beholding to greedy shareholders who don't care about the people who toil for their profits.
